Mk2.5 Alarm

My 2.5 Zetec has an alarm in it, couple of things I want to know...

Firstly, which genius at Ford designed this idea:

Unlock the car with key lock, have a chat with someone for a couple of minutes, then open any door, and it starts pinging for 10 before setting the alarm off!?

Where as if you unlock it remotely, it locks its self again...

Second of all, on the Escort, you used to be able to activate "Test mode" by pushing the bonnet switch a dozen times, is there such a test on the focus mk2.5?

In the manual it says if you unlock the car with the remote key fob but dont open any door within 40 seconds it automatically locks again. I'd say that was pretty handy in case you accidently unlock it or unlock it, forget something and walk back into your house forgetting to lock the car again!

Yeah a bit stupid really , unlocking with a key and it triggers , but it states in the book you must place the key in hte ignition with in 10 seconds.I would imagine for the fact that if someone forced the lock.

No idea about the test mode have you tried it

I unlocked mine the other night without opening the doors. Opened the bonnet to make my weekly checks and the doors self locked. When I had finished I closed the bonnet down and the alarm went off.

So you should be able to test it by popping the bonnet while the car is locked (double locked).

Oh yeah, that sets it off for sure.

Not nice at 2am if you forget :P

I've done that so many times, opened it without unlocking!

I'm on about the alarm test mode that, when you trigger a sensor (i.e open a door) it makes a beep to say "yeah i'm working".

Mine often goes off after ive filled with fuel, paid then i go to check the oil and open the bonnet...not realising its self locked. Alarm goes off!

Then I have that red faced 20 seconds looking for the keys!

I havent heard about the test mode before, ill keep this bookmarked!

Hahahaha!

Go and find a friend with a high spec Escort (Ghia generally, I had an LX, but needed to change the door control module for mine to work.) and open the bonnet. On the left hand side is a rubber switch which the lid sits on, push that 10 times I think and you'll here a single beep. Then go and try the each door and the boot, you'll get the same. Same with locks too. After 30 seconds of not doing anything it will beep again, and that's test mode off.
