lipso
2001 tddi estate - central locking has played up since I got the car a year ago (remote worked on and off) - everything has been tried but no good. Took it to an auto electrics garage to test for the source of the problem and they said get another drivers door lock and central locking module from another focus which i did, put them in. Now the remote does not work at all but locking works ok using key in door and using the lock button on the inside of the doors Don't know what to try next apart from trying a new remote fob off eBay? Any advice?
jeebowhite
changed the battery?
johnH
when you replaced the module, this would of obviously lost the code for key (which it transmit over radio). You will need to get the dealer to hook up and relearn all the keys and recode the module etc.
lipso
I changed the battery about a year ago and about 6 weeks ago had the remote fob tested for signal output and was told it was ok JohnH- is it definitely true that I have to get the module recoded, etc? I thought this was not the case and that they are interchangeable as long as the module part number matches the original one which it does. After I put the replacement module in I did the turn ignition 4 times thing and there was the chime sound but no chime when I then pressed a button on the remote What would this cost to get done and can it only be done at a Ford dealer? johnH
More than likely, from past experiance with immos and locks etc, anything changed the module and keys need reprogramming. I bet if you got the keys from donor car they may open your doors :o Typically it will cost one hour labour at a dealers, wach are different
