mixmasterlooney
From experience, it's best to have your cam attached to something solid for reducing vibrations Sent from my GT-I9300 using Ford OC mobile app
jeebowhite
Got responses off the eBay sellers, seems that unless you get the 808 #16, the cheaper versions (#1 - #11) do not include the additional functionality such as auto record and overwriting files. So if you want this cam, you need to get the #16 as per the link that Byron supplied.
jeebowhite
that camera does look a good one as a cheap investment. At that price, I am tempted to pick one up in a few months time and give it a try! you could secure it to the rear view mirror with the sticky pad and then mount the camera at the back. jeebowhite
Well the cameras that you linked to earlier Steve (the 808's) are all manual recording and no loop, but they do have for sale the #16 as Byron bought but for just under £19.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261108966699&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT However, this one does look awesome that you linked to: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-720P-Smallest-Camcorder-Mini-Car-Dash-DVR-Camera-Recorder-Video-Cam-G-sensor-/371088900410?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56669f413a&clk_rvr_id=658061305656&afsrc=1 I think the only minor issue is that its not quite as stealthy as the 808, but none the less looks a fantastic piece of kit... Thanks for the replies James. The first one does look interesting, obviously I will have to get a bracket to hold it too. That last one does look good, although I have a few "buts". You supposedly get a remote and rear camera included, it shows the remote and cam in the pictures and "product details" say 1 x HD Car DVR 1 x Car Charger 1 x Viscose stents 1 x USB Cable 1 x Rear-view Camera with 5m cable 1 x User Manual but when you click on "in package" it says This Listing includes: 1 x 720P 2.0 " Car Vehicle DVR Camera LCD Dashboard Crash Cam Video Record G-sensor (With retail packaging) with no mention of the remote or camera. ---------------------- second but, there is quite a bit of bad feedback for that seller. ---------------------- third but, is that his price is cheaper than anyone elses, which sounds too good to be true. There are 3 or 4 other sellers that only sell the camera alone, with better feedback who have sold quite a few, for a quid or so more. --------------------- Final but, all the sellers have only started selling these since the beginning of the month so feedback on these cameras is only just filtering through, some good some bad. -------------------- Not sure if I am being over cautious and worrying too much. What do you think? I am just sending the seller a question asking if the remote and rear view camera are included in the purchase,
jeebowhite
with no mention of the remote or camera, they will be able to tell you via message, its probably they forgot to add it into that bit. ---------------------- second but, there is quite a bit of bad feedback for that seller. - to be fair, that does work out at less than 1% of complaints for the last 12 months, its good to be cautious, but his overall satisfaction is still good, everyone can have bad times, but remember you are always protected by paypal! ---------------------- third but, is that his price is cheaper than anyone elses, which sounds too good to be true. - Quite often they will do this just to get the business, to be fair until you try it you never know and at £12 its gotta be worth a pun! worst case scenario, you claim a refund or get one through paypall! --------------------- Final but, all the sellers have only started selling these since the beginning ofthe month so feedback on these cameras is only just filtering through, some good some bad. - To be honest, Dash Cam production has increased lately with their popularity, as such more and more are buying the stock in and just getting on with selling them because its easy money and almost guaranteed to be a good result! -------------------- I personally would worry, and that £12 one I am strongly tempted to buy it and see how it goes!
stevegtuk
Once again, thanks for the advice. I sent a message last night, asking if the remote and rear cam were included. So will see what comes back. I am very tempted to get it too, but will restrain myself and wait for a reply first
jeebowhite
haha, same here! If I like it I will just sell on my dashcam! the only thing that caught my attention - the camera was 1000 pixels (1 Mega Pixel) unless thats a typo, there is no way that can record HD...
stevegtuk
It says 1 million pixels in the "product detail" unless I am looking at the wrong bit. It supports motion detection and night vision function. jeebowhite
thats what I meant lol, I had the kids kept me awake for all but 2 hours last night! Either way, 1 mega pixel is not enough to record HD!

stevegtuk
I finally got a reply back this morning saying "Thank you for your email. Please browse our listings and choose what you would like." So much for answering the question. I am going to ask again, but if he does not answer, I certainly won't be buying it.
jeebowhite
I think theres too many better products on the market, and with people who can speak and understand english selling them, its a better direction. I prefer to know they have a grasp of the language as if I need to dispute, I want the other person to know what is wrong, and how to fix it!

I think its a Chinese seller trying to pretend hes in the uk. There seem to be alot of them doing that nowadays. Sounds like my previous "buts" could have been justified
jeebowhite
Well the 720 one that was for 12 quid has now gone up to 15, but still if it transpires to be a good camera, its well worth the buy!
stevegtuk
Well spotted, I didn't check the price change. If the remote and rear cam are included I would consider getting it. As you say its well worth it. The next cheapest, as far as I could find, that does say it has remote and rear cam is this one, but its £30 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-DV-Dual-Camera-Lens-Car-Vehicle-DVR-Cam-Dash-Video-Recorder-Reversing-Lens-/351040422408?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51bba3c208
jeebowhite
well, I took the plunge and bought it. The package says it has: 1 x HD Car DVR 1 x Car Charger 1 x Viscose stents 1 x USB Cable 1 x Rear-view Camera with 5m cable 1 x User Manual even without the remote, its still too good an opportunity to pass! Worst that happens is I dont like it and pass it on, best case I love, it, fit it, and get on withi it :D Now to work out how I can put the rear camera up with window blinds.... :p
stevegtuk
Let me know what turns up in the package :) Yeah I was wondering how to fit the rear cam as I have UV blinds too. May have to secure to the high level brake light and cut a small hole in the blind
jeebowhite
I thought about that too! The other answer is to disassemble the rear view camera, and just attach the ribbon and the lens direct to the window and then fit the blinds behind it, although to be fair, depending on how its placed, you might get away with seeing through the blinds with a fairly good picture.
Hyrule
Think I'm gonna slap another Mobius in the rear window and just wire it up to the front PCB fusebox.

mixmasterlooney
Think I'm gonna slap another Mobius in the rear window and just wire it up to the front PCB fusebox. I will be doing the same too Ben. Even though the mobius cost a bit more I have been using it for a good while now in hot and cold conditions it's extremely reliable and and I cannot fault it. The best advice I can give to anyone considering the mobius is to buy a sd card off the same seller as all or any problems were related to sd card. Reliability is important in a dash cam and mobius has proven itself to me Sent from my GT-N7105 using Ford OC mobile app
jeebowhite
Mobius certainly is good, I class the price you pay for them more higher value for money, I just keep looking for the lower more value for money ones which is why I am going to give this other one a crack! Never the less they are all awesome for what you get!
mixmasterlooney
Indeed They are, when compared to cams like go pros, £250+ pounds insane Sent from my GT-N7105 using Ford OC mobile app
jeebowhite
Unless they come with a terabyte recording space, I am not interested :p
