lgsnoddy
Hi all, We have just acquired a 2003 streetka for my girlfriend with 33000 miles on it. It's a luxury version and frankly it's immaculate for its age. However, there are are a few things I could do with a little advice on? I've never owned a ford before so any help would be appreciated. 1) door handle is broken. I researched this before I bought it, got the guy to knock of some money for it and will fix it myself. Quite happy finding a replacement at the scrappers for £5 but is there a more durable part available? 2) the glove box thing seems to have a broken catch? Is this easy to replace? 3) what's the deal with the heated seats? When red is showing on the button is that on? Do you have to have the heaters on for them to work? 4) the metal mesh grill on the front and the badge have seen better days, what are they like to replace? Lastly is there anything else to look out for? Cheers in advance Ricky
PeteBrace
The only think that will stop further handles from breaking is replacing the locking mechanism. Some have had success with 3 in 1 lube squirted into it. Heated seats are on when in the popped out position. The glove box you refer to, is that the one between the seats? The lock to that isn't specific to the car. Any should fit. As for the grills they are a bumper removal job front and back. They are clipped on. lgsnoddy
Cheers for the info, as for the glove box I mean the passenger side one, the catch has broken as I had a look at the scrap yard today, so what's involved in removing it? SandyCat
I gave a long reply to someone about their handles in an earlier thread so have a look at that. (this forum doesn't allow cut and paste of links but it's not far back) I have also just replied to Tiggi about their front badge.
jeebowhite
you can post links :) If you want to copy a link direct to your post on thread X, then look to the top right corner of the box above your post, you will see (for example in your post above #4) right click, copy link location and then paste: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/58228-bought-a-streetka/#entry377464 that will take you straight to the post you made. SandyCat
Can you tell me then how to post webpage or photo url's from other websites. It won't let me do that on here on any computer I try it on even using the Link option above the reply box. Also say I type something in the reply box but want to save it for later I can't highlight it then 'copy' or 'cut'. It's as if all the normal editing tools have been disabled. jeebowhite
for websites, just copy and paste the URL to redirect, if you want to post videos then you click the little square icon, inbetween the FONT box and the rubber icon at the top of your reply box you are typing into, then choose media and paste the URL. If you want a picture posting up, click the square icon with a tree on it, top of the reply box, underneath the orange A and the smiley face, then paste the URL for the direct picture (the one ending in .jpg, .gil etc) and click OK. SandyCat
I think it's a compatibility issue between IE11 and the forum. I use 3 pc's with Windows7 and IE11 and none of them will copy and paste on here. Anyway, no matter thanks for your help. :)
jeebowhite
no worries, and sorry to the OP for the marginal derailment.
Rich2508
I managed to spray paint both the grilles without removing them with satin black paint. Just undid the top bumper screws an pulled bumper away enough to squeeze some card behind to mask off the radiator, and similar making for lower grille, then just masked around edge and sprayed like that. Looked perfect and only took 30 mins.

justju
my first time here for me and i could really use some advice, if anybody knows how i can secure the top front grill easily and quickly (without having to buy specialist tools etc) which seems to have dropped from it's original position and also my passenger side front quarter panel, above the wheel arch is also missing whatever holds it in place and appears to have had a quick fix to sell rather than doing it properly, any advice would be appreciated as i cant find a thing on YouTube to help at all..regards ju
