Hi

there is a whooshing noise coming from my 2007 ford focus 1.6tdci, which I have identified as a crack in a hose from the intercooler.

I am trying to get a replacement part but I am having difficulties in identifying the part. There seems to be 2 options

6k683a or 6c646a

I have attached a pic of the actual pipe in red.. can anyone help?

thanks

Thanks leicsguyyk...I cannot take the part off just now as It is difficult to remove it without stripping half the engine by the looks of it. I was waiting to remove it during a cam belt replacement next week..hence the reason I have posted the question. If I knew the part number or someine could identify it I could order in advance. In the meantime the car wouldn't start yesterday. A tow to a garage and initial inspection has identified a possible egr valve issue..just more expense...

Its a 1.6 pug, burn it or sell it as soon as you get the work done, the 1.6 was the worst thing ever created, used to work for a Citroen specialist, this is the start of a very long list of things to go wrong, will get expensive when your first turbo blows

Thanks pink panther. Yeah it is worrying me now as I was starting to think that it was going to start costing me a fortune to maintain. It is a 57 plate with 118k .I had a dpf delete and remap done 2 years ago that was the only probs I have had with it up to now to be honest. Ill maybe just mot it n trade it in. Im might go for a 1.0 focus petrol next time ora different make model....

Have you had the dpf removed? if so you will fail the mot, the 2.0 tdci/hdi are a brilliant engine, will pretty much run forever with very little problems and a nice 20k service interval, well thats the case on a shitron anyway, sooner my Escort is on the road the better :D

yeah the dpf was removed in November 2012 and a dpf delete and full ecu remap was done (130bhp /55mpg) the focus has been driving brill up till now.....

Its an instant fail for the dpf to be missing now, came into effect from February, there are 3 ways around this, 2 are not legal.

1. replace the dpf and get the original map put back on

2. get a hollow dpf put in its place, naughty but it will pass and not affect your current map

3. if you got a mate thats a tester, get him to test it out of his ordinary work hours so he won't get caught by vosa, or he will get a minimum 28 day prohibition and possible permanent loss of testing.

unless you take one of the three options there is no point in even presenting it for an mot, the last one I replaced was around £400 all in, as on the Volvo it was cat and dpf in one, that was £219 + vat trade price, unless you do number 2 yourself this will now risk the persons business being shut down, eu regs gone mad

Cheers for the advice, I'll prob go for option 2. My pal who is an MOT tester never mentioned DPF not being present being an automatic failure... I wonder does he know lol.. thanks again for all your advice, this is a dead useful forum....BTW I let you know how I get on with the EGR issue, hopefully it will not cost me a fortune. I may trade her in this week with a months MOT but I'll see what happens.

EGR is an easy job, probs just a good clean, as the 1.6 suffer from carbon build up, hence turbos blow for a past time, not restored yet, no rust to deal with just a general overhaul, interior and bodykit to get rid of, put it back to factory, maybe keep it pink as it has grown on me, and I have not seen another the same colour, it even has a panther on the bonnet, hence Pink Panther lol

Hi

I have 2007 ford focus 1.6 hatchback. The heater intake pipe has a metal socket that goes into the engine block which has rusted and leaking.

I cannot seem to find this nipple even from Ford. any advice in sourcing and removing the part will be appreciated.

Thanks

Fabian
