TomsFocus
Where do people get the 4 spoke airbag covers from when changing to a cruise control wheel? They're much more expensive than I was expecting on eBay! Have seen one on aliexpress but a bit sceptical about quality and the 3 week delivery wait lol. Cheers Tom
Dee_82
I noticed that too, turns out my GEM module is a C version though so probably not possible anyway try opening the eBay search options to Europe, Germany usually has some compatible stuff that's relatively cheap. ive got my eye on a chrome lower grill for half the price from there compared to here. TomsFocus
My GEM's a D which I believe is the right one! Surprised yours isn't though. Yeah I will try the other eBay's, hadn't thought of that tbh!
Stoney871
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=331373913821&alt=web Ignore where it says mk3, it's from an 09 Focus.
TomsFocus
Guess who already pushed the bids up on that one... I think someone else already put a massive bid on it, I tried £2, £5, £10 and was immediately outbid. But will keep watching it. Also, mines an 08, but it's the same afaik. What do we reckon is a reasonable price to pay for one? I've always given complete airbags away free with steering wheels when breaking cars, this is the first time I've seen such massive prices for just a cover, let alone the airbag lol, just glad its the same 'bag underneath! Stoney871
People have realised what parts are desirable on different cars and are cashing in on that.
TomsFocus
Yeah, true I guess. I didn't realise it was such a rare option on the Focus' though, I viewed 3 other Titaniums before buying mine, all 3 had cruise lol! But this one got other, more expensive options tbf...daren't think how much it'd cost to retrofit the X pack heated leathers when retrofitting cruise is so much lol. JW1982
Note that the late Focus MK2 and MK2.5 has a different GEM module from the early MK2. On the early MK2 GEM module the last 2 letters of the part number were related to the option level of the GEM module. On this GEM module it was relatively easy to determine the option level. On the late Focus MK2 and MK2.5 GEM module the part numbers are a bit different. There are a lot more versions of this type of GEM module and the option level can not be determined easily by the last letters of the part number. The last 2 letters of the new GEM modules part number are not related to the last 2 letters of the old GEM modules part number. The fact that a "C" GEM module should not support Cruise Control is based on the early MK2 GEM module. Based on the information I have most late MK2 and MK2.5 GEM modules do support Cruise Control. Only the low level GEM modules do not support Cruise Control. Unfortunately there is no list of the supported functions of the different part numbers. As a replacement Ford only offers one GEM module. This GEM module supports all possible functions. After connecting the Cruise Control buttons there is a simple method to determine Cruise Control support of the GEM module. Push and hold the rear window heating switch. Turn the ignition on to position 2. Wait about 5 seconds and then release the rear window heating switch. This method puts the GEM module into test mode. Now push on a button of the Cruise Control. If the GEM module supports Cruise Control it will sound a beep. In the GEM modules test mode you can test the following functions: All Cruise Control buttons. Front heated windscreen button. All positions of the light switch. After using the test mode you have to follow the same procedure to exit the test mode. Otherwise the GEM module will stay in test mode.
TomsFocus
Ah that's interesting, didn't realise there was a difference. Seeing as mine's a TitX I would hope its compatible (could've easily been specced as an option!). I have now sorted the cover. ;) If anyone wants one as a BIN from the seller in the auction Stoney posted, they are £69 each! Glad I done the auction instead lol, but still more expensive than I'd have liked as I'm tight lol.
