Ianb
...and he decides to park his lorry on my bonnet Fortunately damage not too bad... Ianb
Actually some advice would be good, never had anything like this happen. I have his policy number (company policy number) his name, pictures, number plate etcetc. What's the process? Should I phone my company and tell them? Should I phone his? GerrardLFC
Phone your own insurance and alert them, then they will do the rest.

FocusSmudge
Ouch, Sorry to hear that Ian, at least the damage is isolated to the bonnet.
Ianb
You ok? You seem injured? Hahaha, unless I hurt my back walking to the car there was no possible way... I wasn't in the car at the time I'd parked up, walked to the council office, came back and saw a truck in front (something told me to check the front of the car) I saw the number plate had that shattered plastic look about it, it was then I just thought "oh great, he's hit me and there is no way he'll own up, oh well new plate is £10 etc" Then I looked up and saw the bonnet and thought "no way!!! He's owning up to this if I get hold of him" then someone from the holiday inn (in the background came out and saw me and said the driver is inside and that they were trying to find out who the car belonged to. So he did the decent thing tbh. I was just not so impressed, I'm guessing it might need a new bonnet (hopefully) ... not sure that crease will come out. Little worried about colours though, it's 7 years old so if it's a new bonnet, resprayed etc will it all match up?? :/
FocusSmudge
Yes, it should do. A good body shop will get an exact color match, infact, that could be fixed without needing a new bonnet. At least he had the decency to own up. Alot of people drive off. Ianb
Well, got in contact with my insurance company, I have to drive it to the nearest repair centre they use (well second nearest, the nearest was a vauxhall garage F that!)...so that's 40 miles away (going that way anyway!)...then they'll assess it, give me a shout when ready to start fixing it, and I'm getting a hire car too,.... ...One can only assume it's a Vauxhall...
Stoney871
You should have had him done for parking on the double yellow lines too. Shred-It are not going to like you much then?
Ianb
Hahah, didn't think about that... Well tbh, the damage isn't mine to pay for.. Told my fiancée I'm paying extra towards it and getting an RS front end Sent via carrier pigeon using Ford OC
Stoney871
They didn't tell you to take your car to a garage in Bodmin by any chance?
Ianb
Yeh they did, told them I'd rather pick the second closest (Exeter) rather than go all the way to Bodmin!!! Especially the Vauxhall garage! Sent via carrier pigeon using Ford OC
Stoney871
Mine went to Bodmin a while back when some nubbin stacked a motorbike into it while parked for the night. I spent a week and a half driving a 1.4 Chevvy Aveo! Took me 2 days to work out how to tighten the elastic band. Tbh, most of the time I had the POS I wrung it's neck good'n'proper :d

Ianb
Lock in my signature for a guide on dealing with it all. If it's any help say, if not, I need to update it Dealing with having a Vauxhall hire car or dealing with accidents? On phone at the moment but I will have a squint later. I've been to the body shop at Exeter, they've taken their photos etc, picked up on a couple marks on the bumper too which I had missed, all in all it seems good, going to give me a ring possibly Monday to sort out dates then go from there :) Sent via carrier pigeon using Ford OC
Ianb
Well guys, Focus is going in tomorrow for the work and should be picking up the hire car at approx 9am... I have good reason to believe it won't be a Vauxhall, they did the whole "we're having trouble getting an estate, do you need one or could you do with a saloon?"... I replied with "I don't mind what shape it is, although you guys would probably prefer the dog to be in the boot rather than wriggling around on the back seats" I actually think I may be getting a _________ .... I'll leave the suspense until tomorrow... ...as far as I could gather an Audi A6 s-line estate was out of the question though...

Ianb
I've got to say.,.. I'm loving it... I don't know whether it's just the size, the gizmos and gadgets, or the new car smell... but whatever it is I dare say I might be sad to say goodbye to this hire car! ... Of course, if I was to climb into a new mondeo, or a Ford Kuga I'd probably be in love with that too.. maybe I just like 'new' Actually, to be fair, I should get paid to drive this... it's brand new, I'm merely warming it up for them! The second person to drive it will get the full scope as it'll be broken in by then (in the literal sense, not the physical sense!)
