Red Flashing Message Indicator

Hi,

I have tried to solve this first but no luck so far...........

I have a 2011 Focus Titanium TDCI for 4 weeks and for some strange reason after spending many hours cleaning it,(radio on interior lights on etc-)today the battery was flat,RAC called and got it going but now i have noticed the Message Indicator flashing red when i have locked my car, something i only have noticed after my flat battery.

Some people indicate this as being the immobilizer/Alarm that is active but the handbook suggest something more sinister,

is this as people suggest or do i need to get it checked out,

i have carried out a system check and comes back ok.

any help would put my mine at ease

You'll run tue battery flat with a radio on for hours if the battery isn't fully charged it may be the issue

  • 3 months later...

Just noticed this post after doing a BING search.

Jan 2014 Kuga 34000 mile and I've never seen the red flashing message indicator until last night I am convinced after all this time I'd have noticed this, though I've seen the red flashing light when car is locked and armed. This seems to have been replaced with the flashing red message indicator.

If it is the 'alarm set' indication I would have thought I would have seen it in 18 months and 33000 mile. I've never adjusted the alarm settings.

If it is to do with the alarm then I think there is more to its appearance. For what good it may do I'll give my local dealer a call on Monday.

It's the pats indicator light.

If theres a problem, it will flash a code

ie 1 slow flash- gap- 3 quick flashes is code 13. so on and so on.

If light flashes slow and regular, there's no problem. This is normal condition on fords.

Thanks, yes I was aware of the codes etc, fortunately its a regular flash, but I cant say I've actually seen the message indicator flash as it does now. even after owning the car for almost 18 months. Maybe the fact I hadnt noticed it is more worrying that then flashing message indicator  .

I have a ford focus 14 reg 1 litre eco boost. I have been having issues with it since January. The battery keeps draining (its had a new battery) and it's not turning off after taking the key out. It also kept coming up with auto stop start requires manual restart. Charged the battery fully over night put the battery back in the car. Noticed the red indicator message flashing thought it was just the alarm couple of days later the battery is completely flat again. Ford said the fuse box has bad corrosion and will cost £2000 for a new one.
