GMX
At least a bike battery won't take too long to recharge Unlike the dog's ventfan AGM battery, which never takes less than 28 hours

stef123
I can highly recommend the Ctek range of chargers. I have a few of them now for doing all sorts. One of them however is always used on my blade, whenever the bike has been out and put back in the shed i connect the charger and forget about it. its a 0.8A charger and monitors/maintains as it needs to. Meaning no more battery problems. its very quick to connect, it comes with all the neccessary leads too.

Out interest, do Ctek do one that can maintain 110Ah AGM leisure battery; should I not go down the path of the Kussmaul Auto Charge idea
stef123
Yes they do, the Ctek 5.0 will charge batteries between 1.2-110Ah and maintain batteries upto 160Ah. You can get a 5.0 for about £60. The next model up, the 7.0 charges batteries up to 150Ah and maintains up to 225Ah. It can also be used as a 12v power source. It's around £100. Ctek charges can be used on all type of 12v car and leisure batteries.

stef123
Thanks Stef :) Very useful info and they're very reasonable pricewise too :) If you ever get round to buying a top end merc, bentley whatever - you can buy one of their chargers at a very very high price, except its just a Ctek with a different sticker I will find an example. Following your recommendation Stef, I went and bought a Ctek MXS 10 this morning, there was only £12 difference between the 10 and the 7. :) So, I thought I'd get the 10 and pay the extra £12 :) You don't happen to know, if the hardwired comfort indicator LED panel will fit on MK2 centre console, next to the heated windscreen/seats? Ctek doesn't give the size of the panel on their web site.
stef123
Sounds good mate, £12 isn't a lot of extra dough for such a capable unit. I've not idea regarding the size of the comfort connector as I've never had one. I only have the type of connector without the LEDs.

Thanks anyway. :) I'll get a couple, regardless, one for the starter battery and one for the AGM ventfan battery. I thought it would be a novel mod to have the starter state of charge, where I could see it, on the console. The venfan's switch is too big for centre console facia, with it's screen printed plate I'll probably site it next to the handbrake with the comfort connector panel below it
