thesilverfox
No i haven't. i think i've left it too late, i;ve picked up habits my driving instructor would be ashamed of! That doesn't matter. So long as you meet the requirements of the varying road conditions and whatnot, the instructor will just tut for letting a few bad habits sink in. As long as you can demonstrate control of the car (you did pass after all), you are fine. I gave my instructor £100 cash and he took me out for a few hours and signed me off (covered 80% of the adverse conditions in my normal lessons). It knocked off £250 for my first insurance on a 1.25 Fiesta MKIV Chicane. Worth doing.
MarkyR
Thanks for telling me what you meant matey. I can't even remember my first insurance costs? lol!! But I can now afford to have Direct Line with all the goodies, just drive very safely and it will soon go down. just remember, car insurance is so high cause of personal injury, not car damage. That's why your house will probably cost half your Fiesta or less a year to insure!
AndrewL
If it makes you feel any better Michael, my insurance when I was 17 on my R reg 1.1 Peugeot 106 third party fire and theft was £2200! In retrospect I can't believe that I paid that much, the car only cost £1200! Think it was a combination of being young, male and living in not the best area (my mum lives in a bit of a crappy suburb of Bham). Saying that I !Removed! loved that car, it weighed about 10 grams and when it was just me in it and I'd had a light lunch felt pretty quick! Until the head gasket went and the exhaust fell off that is. :D
KeithC
Who says being old is no good. My first car was a MKII 1.6 Ghia Escort, £300 dabs, TPFT. I now insure my M3, fully comp, protected no claims for less than £500. B) What with house prices and car insurance, I think I'll leave you whipper snappers to it. Michael P
its like with petrol prices, we can moan all we want about it but we need it and we don't have much choice in the matter regards to how much it costs!
