  2. I wonder if the brake pressure from the servo is low. Have you head the wet belt changed? It was due last year and we’re starting to see issues of belt degradation blocking the vacuum pump.

  5. I recently bought a Mk3 Kuga, the 2.0l diesel. It was running fine for a few weeks, then all of a sudden, when we went to start it, it would start, run very poorly for a few seconds then die. It did this for a day or 2, then all of a sudden it started running smoothly again. Ran fine for a week, then did exactly the same thing again. On the 2 occasions it wouldn't start, we had just filled the car up, I only use shell fuel so would be surprised if it was rubbish fuel. I have noticed that the oil level is dropping week by week also, so it's obviously burning oil for some reason. The car had a diagnostic ran on it and it was showing that the engine oil level was too high, and also, that it was too low. Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing these issues?

  7. I need some help with something that night be a little out of my skill set! (Sorry for the long intro to get you upto speed) i've recently bought a 1.4l mk5 escourt LX J reg with the CVH carburated engine. She's in amazing condition for its age and I've been working the past week to get it upto scratch fully. I've done a full service, including oil & filter change, spark plugs, air filter and filter box clean up, clean the carburator with carb spray, changed the rocker cover gasket (it was extremely old and leaking oil over the engine since the Cork had petrified) and a few other bits and bobs. Thing is, its struggling to start no matter hot or cold. It seems to be hit and miss with if it wants to fire up easily or not. Majority of the time it takes a few seconds of turning over and pipping the throttle to fire up, to which it can be a little sputtery and drop revs pretty easily and wouod stallnif i dont open the throttle. After 5 of so seconds of giving it some gas it'll idle perfectly fine and act exactly as expected. It runs and drives very nicely now with nothing out of the ordinary, just start up issues. I've been fault finding through the week and have tried replacing the vacuum hoses from the air intake solenoid to the bottom of the filter, and the hose from the filter to another hose read of the carb (also from rocker cover), cleaned out the vacuum hose from the rocker cover to the air filter (oil has gunked up the hose and filter, I assume from a bad gasket/too much oil previously) cleaned the carburator with spray etc. I've noticed the choke sits wide open sometimes when I have the filter off (for cleaning the carb) and doesn't seem to set its self when I press the throttle twice before going to start the car. Fast idle speed seems to choose between 1500 or 1200 ish before coming down to a normal 900ish after a few minutes. Would anyone with more experience have any idea what the issue could be? Let me know if you need anymore info. Thank you

    Green Yucky Stuff

Not permanent, but a squirt of 'waterless wash & wax' on an old toothbrush takes it off, then wipe with a MF cloth, and leaves it nice & shiny!

  18. Have a read of this thread, the same applies to the Mk4

    driver rear door not working

Ok, have checked the fuse and it looked OK but changed it anyway and tested the central locking and still doesn't work so maybe perhaps it's a different wire altogether.
  21. Unless you're expecting the oil filter to be hit by half a brick, then I'd not worry about stone damage. 🤔 The under tray helps keep the underside and the engine bay cleaner, and it allegedly improves mpg as there is less drag. If you feel able to spend £350 on having one fitted then do so, but you will have to save some serious mpg to get your money back.

Focus Mk4 - Rattle inside dash (above glove box)

Yep - just taken it for a little test-drive and no more rattle 😀
  23. So I am in the process of investigating this issue with my car where I get limp mode under certain circumstances. There is a long-winded thread about it separate to this but I wanted to keep these more focussed questions shorter and sweeter! My issue doesn't appear to be specific to one sensor, more a group of sensors, however one of the codes I intermittently get is P007C (Intake air temp). Now, when I monitor the behaviour of this sensor on the oscilliscope function in FORScan I get this peculiar behaviour. Usually the IAT sensor (CACT - voltage is turquoise in the photo) gives readings between about 2.8 and 3.5v and it does behave normally for most of the time. Under certain conditions however = (>40mph, accelerating, engine warm), the sensor starts spiking down to 0v in this strange pattern, I then get the codes & limp mode... If I unplug the sensor completely I get steady 5v. In the photo attached, you can see the strange behaviour that occurs during the period when I press the throttle (Marked in yellow). I have ordered a replacement sensor, and a replacement PCM (ECU) is on its way as well as those are possibilities I was considering. I've tried wiggling everything around, shaking and wiggling the loom etc etc to see if I can replicate the behaviour but nothing. My question is - what could cause this sensor to fault to 0v in such a pattern.

Left indicator flashing when car off

Thanks for feedback, unofix. Have checked the BCM and fuses, everything seems dry and not corroded. I'm thinking it might be the indicator handle unit messing up. Strangely enough, it seems to keep some sort of memory. If car is running, I turn indicator right and then to neutral, turn of car, it flashes on the right side. Doing the same to the left, it flashes left. Pulling the handle back (hazard light) makes flashing stop, but starts again when releasing. Also this strange beeping, it gives a short beep everytime I move the indicator handle. Have gotten hold of another handle unit, I'll try changing and see what happens. Thanks, Ray

Ford Fusion Zetec 1.6 automatic high revs

Thank you Dan, I appriecate the help. Sadly I live in the middle of nowhere so I can't get that part until tomorrow. I will update on the progress after replacing this. The part is like £8 roughly so I may as well just get one and replace it anyway.
  26. Does anyone out there have any idea what type of injection puller I can use please. They are well and truly stuck in. Also is there anything I can spray around there to try and help it cone out. Thank you in advance.😊

    Do 18" 7.5J ET42.5 ST rims fit on a Fiesta MK8 ST-Line 2020?

Thank you for your answers, indeed I expected the suspension to be different for an ST. Perhaps small spacers would work, but I hope someone has tested it before and knows how to get it working😄.
