Paul PP
Hi all, Just bought 2015 focus ecoboost, checked ford etis service and found this: Outstanding Field service Actions 18S07 - CROSS CAR LINE CLUTCH BURST. Came from a Ford Main dealer who didn't tell about it, would they have checked it out, or should I ask them? Thanks for any help

iantt
when did you buy it?
team alchemist
This has been on the ecoboom site for a few days now, pressure plate is prone to cracking, which in some cases can lead to an engine fire, get it booked in for its recall asap.

Paul PP
Thanks for your replies, I bought the car 3 weeks ago, so the dealer may not have known if it's very recent. Will book it in, I guess the repair will be free?
TomsFocus
Yeah, the dealer wouldn't have known 3 weeks ago. Will be free as you say.

nitten_traveller
Thank you to the OP for posting about this as according to ETIS my car has the same recall. I wouldn't have known about it as I didn't buy the car from Ford so won't be in their sales database for any letter.

famas
Seems that its in many European countries of course. Here in Greece it affects focus, c max, kuga, Mondeo, s max, Galaxy, Transit connect from 8/2012 to 6/2016 with 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 Ecoboost engines 6th speeds). In some German forums they say that they somehow test the clutch( put 6th gear and see if engine stops) and reprograme the pcm to recognise any abnormal temperature raising in the clutch plate and so to reduce the performance of the engine. Proz
Mine was in for it's recall today. Updated PCM modules apparently... and my clutch is fine. Not sure how they check the clutch though as couldn't actually see what went on. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Pebbleheed
Mine has this too. My local ford dealer ripped me off big time and I’m still battling for the remainder of my refund for my last car - £200 short from £7,500, so there’s not a chance my new car is going to them. I’ll travel a bit to the next ford dealer. Is this a ‘while you wait’ fix?
drljames
Looks like ford have changed this recall to just the software update. I booked mine in only for my dealer told me the clutch was on backorder (didnt know a date).. as the recall involved taking clutch apart to inspect for damage, they wanted the part on hand just incase needed replacing. 3 weeks on, still on backorder. Checked ETIS today to find recall has changed to:- Outstanding Field service Actions 18S07 - CLUTCH SLIP DETECTION SOFTWARE. Wonder why the change? It is now present for my car as well. Will be taking it for service in a few weeks so I'll ask the dealer about it.
