Minibus V's Van Road Tax

Hi all, first of all thank you for taking the time to read my post, I have a couple of quick questions that hopefully someone on here may know the answer of.

To cut a long story short I purchased a nine seater tourneo mk7 2007 about a year ago, the road tax on the vehicle is mad costing something like £690 for the year. I don't really use the back seats so I was wondering if I changed the minibus into a windowed van (crew cab) vehicle would I make savings on the road tax as its more classed as a van or would it stay at this madly high yearly cost?

I look forward to hearing from anyone who could advise.

You would have to contact DVLA for advice as they would likely have to inspect the vehicle and recalculate the tax band if possible.
I would say that any modifications would have to be irreversible or else the reassessment would be meaningless if the vehicle could be changed back in an hour with a socket set.
DVSA would need to know as well.
