Focus MK4 Gearbox Issue

Hello,

I have a New Focus ST-Line, new from factory and registered in October of 18.

For a month it has been sat in the garage for a month now, due to the car literally not selecting any gears.. and it’s a MANUAL. Anyone else experienced the same issue? They’ve said there’s another car with the expect same spec in as mine with the same issue, but they’ve not actually told me what, just the wait for parts is weeks away.

cheers

joe

That's very difficult after 6 months, OP has had this car over a year.

I wonder if the OP meant October 2019? The Mark IV did not come out in 2018!

It did, they had demos of the Mk4 at the dealer when I picked up my Fiesta ST in June 2018.

I seem to recall someone on here posting up a pic of one they'd spotted on a '67 plate, they were certainly about in first half of 2018.

It doesn't matter, it's still under warranty.

Reject

Reject

You can't reject a car under warranty, you are confusing two different things.

Consumer rights gives you the option to reject, but after 6 months you'd have to prove at your cost the fault was present at the time of sale.

The warranty is just a contract, it's not the same as your consumer rights. It has no clause to reject a car.

***Update***

It was the Slave Cylinder that had apparently gone on it, so they’ve been awaiting a part for the past 4 weeks to come from Slovakia to replace it.

You would think they'd learnt about poor quality clutches from the endless Mk3 clutch failures...clearly not...nothing says quality like parts from Slovakia!

Which engine is it btw?  1.0 EcoBoost?

I rejected a 2012 Focus 1.6 TDCi (can't remember the reg now) 8 months into service as it started loosing power as it was cruising, lethal.

Made them buy it back/rejected/refunded, same thing.

Car's not fit for purpose, reject it

You did well there then, but it's nothing to do with warranty and it's beyond the scope of your consumer rights.

They did it to keep you "happy".

Plus, a safety issue always gives it more weight, the fact that the OP is waiting for a repair, does not give them grounds to reject the vehicle.
