No, but I did drink tea and eat cookies if that makes it any more authentic?

Cheeky! Not all techs drink tea and biscuits all day. Well most do. Lol . We sacrificed the  biscuits for 40 large dominos pizzas shared round for lunch yesterday paid for by one of our contractors . None of us wanted to work afterwards.

I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

Something else I like to ask you guys is what sort of price would you say my zetec s would go for?

I stumbled across a site the other day www.priceanycar.com which may be helpful if you don't know it already. Their valuation was pretty close to @TomsFocus (maybe Tom's been there already😀). I doubt there are many Fiestas that age as nice as yours, problem is finding someone enthusiastic enough to appreciate the care you've taken of it. I suppose you'll try an ad on here?

A really quick way to get a valuation is to use cazana.

Create a free account then search for your reg: https://cazana.com/uk

Seems pretty accurate too...

I wasn't actually being cheeky - I did drink tea and eat cookies!

Not planning on selling the car yet however my ownership might cut short if nothing is done about the ULEZ expansion in 2021 and the general elections next year will keep this mayor in. I was thinking around £1900 😂. Something I also forgot to mention is it has reconditioned injectors.

Sadly you can't even trust an enthusiast which I experienced when buying this car. The guy had a mk2 and mk3 focus RS (judging by his pictures anyway) and he had the guts to lie about work being done on the car.

I think a bonus also when the time comes to sell is linking my build topic so people can see as proof what's been done.

I do like finally getting the kids solid Ash height chart fitted today purchased from here: https://www.kerrysignaturefurniture.ie/product/personalised-solid-ash-height-ruler/?utm_source=FordOwnersClub&utm_medium=ForumLinks&utm_campaign=referrals

Each inch on the ruler represents one foot; I made sure it was centre & straight with a spirit level followed by lining up the height correctly.

I haven't seen that site before, very interesting!  Bit of a shame it can't do reg numbers...but maybe I'm just lazy!

I didn't look at a valuation for Zains car, I'm sad enough to spend a lot of time looking at certain cars (mainly Ford and VAG) on eBay, gumtree and Autotrader so have a rough idea of what these should be worth lol.  If I do want a valuation, I tend to use the Autotrader one.  You need to be logged in to use it, but with thier large audience it should be pretty accurate.

At the end of the day though, private sales are never predictable in my experience.  Advertise a really clean, high spec, well looked after example and rarely get any interest at all...post up a complete scrapper with high miles and no history and it'll shift within a week!

I have seen a huge change in private sales over the last decade though, particularly the last 5 years.  It's much harder to sell privately now, and there's very little for sale privately either.

On that subject, I received a tax reminder for the Golf today...that means the 'quick, cheap, stop gap' is now the second longest car I've owned in a decade...they never normally last a whole year!

That's funny because I just got my tax reminder today also 🤣. Love paying only £30 for my car.

Tax on your fiesta over here would be €544 per annum aswell as MOT every year at €55 then insurance.

After 2008 the tax is based on emissions which mine is at €200 per annum

Because of the recent changes to the tax system, my Mrs's SEAT Mii is still only £20 a year, while my Fiesta, which is lower CO2, is £140.😠

Tax on my mondeo 2.0 tdci even less at £20 .lol

If the cars tax is £30 or less annually it doesn't go up annually. Yeah I think from April last year cars made from then have this stupid new tax system. Its just tax tax tax in this country which makes me think I should move to somewhere like dubai where there's no tax.

Hopefully when I start working full time I can get a nice car like you 😉. The focus ST diesel has cheap tax which just shows how technology has improved over the years. I think I'd like to get a fast petrol though when I'm earning money.

Yeah, I've done the fast petrol. Mazda 3 MPs tuned to 320hp!!

Yeah I remember you saying. I think you said it handled like a boat until you did some handling mods on it. They are kind of cheap for what they are going for and the mk2s have decent running costs. I think if I could save around £30k and get something like a RS3. That's when I start full time work though. I have no concept of money 😅

Don't really like the sound of a diesel which I've experienced with my diesel zetec s.

Yep, £30 on mine too...was one of the reasons for buying it!   I haven't paid more than £30 tax on a daily for the last 5 years so far lol...  I also found out some of the facelift VW CCs come into the £30 tax bracket as well, so I'm hoping to find one of those soon...

Tax here moved to emissions based in mid 2001.  Then in 2017 they realised the majority cars were too clean to get them enough tax revenue so they had to change it to a flat rate of £140 a year.  So if buying a used car newer than 2017 there's no reason to choose an efficient model anymore...real world MPG isn't that different anyway lol.

I never understood the £20 bracket...it's not even noticeable compared to the £30...yet the next step up is £130 for as little as 2g/km different! 😮  In real world terms, this means cars that are in the £30 bracket, suddenly become £130 if they're auto or have bigger wheels fitted.

@TomsFocus I'm starting to hate this country the more I'm looking at these costs and tax we have to pay and any new charges they want to bring in. My aunt and uncle got a notice saying they have to move out the flat in several months as the landlord is putting it up for sale. The landlord didn't want to sell it but I think they were saying its because of new or increasing charges of some sort.

It's difficult to know how it could be changed really.  We could pay less tax, but then we'd have to each pay for our school tuition and healthcare etc.  The roads would have to be toll charged or they'd just go to rack & ruin within months.  The parks and green spaces would all be over grown and there'd be litter & dirt everywhere as people wouldn't pay for bin collections.  And if you haven't been able to save any money over your lifetime, you'd have to work until you die as there'd be no state pension...and if you can't work due to ill health you'd really be in trouble.  Taxes go to pay for a lot of stuff that we take for granted tbf.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt & Uncle.  There are big changes happening in the rental market currently.  It should make it easier for tenants, but not so lucrative for landlords.  HMO's (houses of multiple occupancy) are also going to be more difficult for landlords, which means there will end up being fewer of them, but they are the only places a lot of people on minimum wage can afford so where will they go...?  I'm having rent issues myself currently, high yearly rent increases that I can't really afford now but no other landlord will take tenant's in my position.  I can't really see any way it'll change at the minute...and baby boomers wonder why millennials are all stressed and depressed about the future...

well, 2 things to add to this post today.

Firstly, I have purchased 2 more Ford plastic model kits.

Secondly, my little Fiesta hit 10,000 miles this morning (still currently sitting at 10k).

I do like arriving home today to find the wife has received the ceiling lights from lampenwelt.com for both of the kids rooms,

You could say the wife's been lamped out by a lampenwelt delivery 😂

awww, bless him. I had a few cars the same way at that age.
It wasn't until I discovered Majorette cars with springs in for suspension that it stopped.
Still got a couple lying around somewhere.

Didn't know that about tax. At least the salary has gone up for all or some jobs from April.
