Whiteedge17
I'm looking for some help with my Ford edge 17 plate, I have found a good bit of water in the driver side foot well this morning. I suspect it's due to a blocked drain from the air conditioning, does anyone know where the drain is located and is it easily accessed? I pulled back the carpet under the brake pedal but couldn't see anything that resembles a drain/hose. Thanks Edited March 9, 2020 by Whiteedge17 Missing information
Milkman
17 plate, by my reckoning that means it was registered in March of that year which means that it still has a little of it's 3 year warrantee left. See where this is going?
Hamster
We can see where this is going but when it gets there, if the external drain is blocked then it probably won't be warranty! warrantee?? H
DavesEdge
Hi All Wasn't there a period when the sunroof drain tubes were not fitted or routed correctly on some models leading to water ingress problems, (though this would only be a possibility if you had had rain where you are)?Happy motoring Dave Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk

Yes, and I think the issues was compounded by parking you car with the front facing downwards as the drain tubes are in the front of the roof channels and down the A pillars. Blocked tubes lead to leaks and drips from the overhead light and mirror assembly and possibly finding its way down the outside of the tube in the A pillar down to the footwells. DavesEdge
As for me, my standard answer to that is too old (lol).Happy motoring Dave Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk
Hamster
I remember, mid 70's, laying a paper template on the roof of a vehicle, drawing around it and jigsawing out the hole for accessory sunroof's. Then fitting, sealing and clamping them watertight. Also, CB Points, CB Radio's and VV Carburettors. Today's progress? I'm not sure sure. HNot to mention getting engine balanced, blue printed, etc. Cutting holes through inner wheel arches to fit twin 40's. Or dropping a 3 litre v6 lump into a mkI or mkII escort. Going mobile with a sigma IV, and connecting up to a moonraker 6 where the shop owner had just put the pl259 on his porch roof. (Not that I have any idea what any of this means). Yep, Technology has a lot to answer for nowadays. Though a fair amount of it is good, there are a distinct quantity of gremlins that crop up every so often, I tend to think sonetimes that when I got my Edge, it included some of the optional gremlins.Happy motoring Dave Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk
Whiteedge17
Update on water ingress...... I had the car booked in to get this problem sorted but the appointment was cancelled due to lock down. Today was the first time I've been in the car in 2 weeks and the water is as bad as ever. This makes me think it may not be the AC as it has not been on. Cant find out anymore info on this so help is still required......
Wizzo
Hi Have you checked the water for screenwash? My whole floor got soaked due to a hose leak.
Ian Lanc
I once had a problem with water coming from our sunroof, only way to stop it was the use of a good supply of 'jam rags' ...lol ..We found it was caused by a spider who'd built a nice nest at the exit water tube, water backed right up until it flowed into the car....ruddy spiders... On another note we also had another leak but on a different car, to stop the water from coming in anymore, I purchased a car cover which stopped the water, this was gathering in the passenger footwell, waited until the weather cleared up, then went to our local supermarket & purchased several bottles of food dye and mixed it with a bit of water, used the dyed water to pinpoint exactly where the water was coming in. Is is fragrant or blue like screen-wash. Is it sweet smelling like anti-freeze? Blot some up on kitchen role and let us know. H
