What is the correct spec oil for the 1.0 ecoboost engine? Are there any branded ones that can be used?

My first post on this forum.

Have read through this thread and am impressed with the knowledge and depth of most posts.

Am taking delivery of a Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost built October 2022, so assume it has a chain for cams and a belt to drive the oil pump.  Its only done 22,000 miles in 2 years, so probably hasn't dried out the belt. Was "serviced" in June of this year.

I am very used to changing timing belts, but this one leaves me somewhat in awe.  I am also used to following Ford Oil Specs, as I took my VW 1.9 PD Engine to 301,000 miles on the correct oil. I sold it last year and it's still going in the new owners hands.

So the first thing I will do is change the engine oil and filter, and check for DTC's of course.

....... and the second thing to do is join a recovery service 🤣

Hi Peter,

You don't mention exactly which 1.0 you have but the 100ps version kept the wet cambelt to the end, as far as we know.

Hi Roger,

It is indeed the 100 PS version, so I will interrogate the salesman who told me it was chain when we pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply

Tut tut!

Just to be sure, chain version top below, belt version bottom.

Thanks Roger.  Quite a visual difference then.  Salesman consulted his service dept, who corrected him!  I will have a look under the hood tomorrow if I get time. It was first serviced in June of this year, so I reckon it did about 18,000 miles on the initial fill. It was refilled with the correct spec oil 5W-20 M2C948-B.   I''ll keep you posted

New V5C arrived yesterday. Only surprising info on it was D3 model:  Fiesta Titanium Turbo

I am puzzled and mildly alarmed. This description would surely imply that it is some sort of hot hatch.  Remember the Renault 5 Turbos?

When I was changing over the Insurance, their database listed it as having Automatic Transmission!  (Its manual). Was able to get that corrected.

Just awaiting Insurance renewal documentation in the post , and I'll check to see if there is any loading.

Also, I see there is no option on the V5C to correct D3: Model

Any hints welcomed

Perfectly normal it seems. I noted that on the V5C when I got my previous 1.0 some years back, though it does seem odd to even mention it when the majority of ICE cars have turbos these days.

Thanks Roger,

Received Insurance renewal documentation in the post. No extra loading and it's called an EcoBoost by them!

'EcoBoost' is a Ford registered trademark which is possibly why DVLA don't use it on the V5c

I've just got a 63 Focus, could anyone advise me of the recommended mileage for a timing belt/water pump change please?

Mileage depends on which engine it has. But they all have a maximum age of 10 years so a 63 plate will be overdue now regardless of engine.
