Sync 3 - volume & temp dialogue after towbar programming

Hi,

I've had a Tow Trust towbar fitted in my 2018 S-Max today. It was done by a professional fitter and dedicated electrics were installed and the vehicle programmed to activate towing functions.

Everything seems to work as it should, towing lights work, vehicle detects the connection, disables rear parking sensors etc.

The installation was first thing this morning and I didn't have reason to drive the car until this evening.

Whilst driving I noticed that, rather than the pretty circular graphics being displayed when changing volume or temperature, I'm now getting a plain rectangular box with a horizontal bar.

Has anybody else seen this and know how to fix it?

I've found the solution and it's an easy fix with Forscan.

In APIM Configuration there is an option called "Type of volume knob" there are 2 settings - horizontal or rotary - set this to rotary, write the change and it'll be back to normal.

I found this by getting the as-built file for my car, saving the as-built configuration for each module in Forscan. Then I used as built explorer to compare each Forscan module file to the original as-built and made a note of the differences.

There was one difference in the APIM module, in block 7D0-01-01.

Googling that block reference gave me a hint that could be the problem so I had a dabble in Forscan and tried the setting above.

Comparing the now modified APIM backup to the original as-built now shows no differences.

Towing features all seem to work as they should, lights are fine, car recognises the trailer connection and rear parking sensors get disabled when trailer is hooked up.

Hope that helps someone.

Afternoon

Please can you confirm and provide directions.

Whilst at my local garage (non-Ford), I was unable to locate the ability to toggle the volume control knob.

Does the garage need an extended licence to operate this function with Forscan?
