Scarab 87
Hi all, New to the site, just joined this week so here goes first post. Had my Fiesta 6 months now and love it, not had one problem with it apart from this annoying rattling sound from the doors when the music is turned up and the windscreen pillar. My previous car which was a Corsa didn't do this and was about 5 years old! I thought these new Mk7's would be a descent build. I know they say you get what you pay for but come on! Anyone else agree.. ? Also Would they sort a rattling problem on warranty?
Strutter
The problem with rattles is the way sound can manipulate in the car is the rattle is most likely coming form the speaker being loose in the housing, theirs nothing that can make a rattle in any car in the columns. It would stand the best chance under warranty if you took it in saying it was the speaker, and not saying theirs some phantom rattle. Scarab 87
Thats what I'll do then. Im taking it in to the dealer anyway to get rear Speakers fitted as it doesn't have any!
Focus_ST-3
Its acually the clips which hold the door panel on that rattle. And yes, the build quality is poor.

calmcdermott
When I spoke to my dealer, the Speakers were £22 - £23 each

Jcoventry
build quality is probably worse on the valencia, spain built ones rather than the ones built in germany - can anyone back this up with some sort of evidence?

thesilverfox
build quality is probably worse on the valencia, spain built ones rather than the ones built in germany - can anyone back this up with some sort of evidence? I would normally have come to this conclusion too for Ford vehicles, but I believe my MKII Focus was built in Spain and (knock wood), the build quality has been excellent. Wasn't it the case that rust was, on anecdotal evidence, more likely to be a problem with Spanish-built cars?
pikestones
Its acually the clips which hold the door panel on that rattle. And yes, the build quality is poor. The build quality is poor compared to what? At least try to back up your generalised statements with some facts as to who has superior build quality. Ive had over a dozen new cars and dont find the build quality on my Fiesta any worse than Vauxhalls,Toyotas,Peugeot and Other Ford models. pikestones
build quality is probably worse on the valencia, spain built ones rather than the ones built in germany - can anyone back this up with some sort of evidence? I think a ford Ka like you have , built in Poland on a shared Fiat production line is proberbly more likely to suffer build quality issues than a fiesta built in Valencia on a dedicated track. Scarab 87
how much are the rear speakers costing you??? Ok ... I went to my local ford dealer earlier and they quoted me approx £160 labour just to fit the Speakers! (approx 1hr per rear panel) The rear Speakers if Im correct are 3 way 180 watt Pioneer and was quoted approx £50 for the pair. ... So I think Im going to go a car audio centre that I know. There Is no way Im paying that! Also does anybody know the product or model number for the rear Pioneer Speakers ?

Yes the Zetecs without bluetooth/usb has 2 Speakers in front (lower door) and 2 tweeters (near door handles). I think they are made by Pioneer.

Dave you were almost there - but my ka is a mk1, built in valencia spain, and its had enough problems for an '08 reg which is what prompted me to suggest the spanish plant isnt so clever. KeithC
Nowt wrong with mine, over 12 months old now and nothing has fell off and nothing rattles.
AndrewL
I think build quality's decent - apart from some of the low down dash plastics and the rattling door trims when the stereo's on loud. It's about what I expected before I bought the car - no Audi but then I didn't pay Audi money.

The factory Speakers are 17cm, but are part of a one-piece plastic moulding including the baffle/spacer ring to mount them to the door. You can't just fit an aftermarket pair of Speakers - you'll also need either a dedicated plastic mounting ring (about £10/pair) or buy/make them from MDF or ply. I've made my own out of 18mm ply, which when padded out with foam/butyl dampener will match the 1 inch deep originals. I've not installed them yet (only made them on Sunday and I need to finish varnishing them to protect them from moisture). I'm also adding deadening (Silent Coat) and acoustic foam to reduce vibrations from the speaker and road noise (hopefully). I'll post some pictures when I'm done (should be a week or two).
