alanfp Posted January 25, 2021 Share Posted January 25, 2021 Provided the revs are kept below say 4500 rpm I can't see that it wouldn't be safe to drive. I'm assuming it's revving high in first gear??? Sounds as though it might have lost the even gears (or, more unusually, just 2nd?) so it changes from 1st to 3rd only when the car's going fast enough for 3rd.
