NJT
HELP!!! I have issues with selecting 1st, 2nd or reverse gear when the car is cold. So far the following has been tried...gearbox oil change using Ford oil, clutch bled, gear selector cables reset and even a change of actual gearbox!!! Nothing fixes this problem other than starting it in gear. Not much help when you are in traffic and going up and down the gears. I know it’s a common problem with Ford’s but no one seems to have a definite fix for it. Hope someone can help before I head to the woods with a box of matches! 🤦🏻♀️ Thanks in advance 🤞🏻
unofix
Hi Nikki do you want to gamble £8.90 and half an hour of your time? I've twice had cars with gearbox problems like yours. On both occasions I've had the good fortune to fix the problem with Slick 50 Gearbox treatment (other products are available). It does take about 100 to 200 miles to fully work but trust me its worth trying. Whats the worst that can happen ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/FPS-DISTRIBUTION-60199080-Gearbox-Treatment/dp/B003HCNZ8C/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=59005553971&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjbCDBhAwEiwAiudBy2OGYV_LdIxd2_iKur7QtXyO6FO_tHJ9kfFs2yXdTu5ZdWHa_FGe6RoCW44QAvD_BwE&hvadid=259049444386&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1006688&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=15731966933782987637&hvtargid=kwd-300803019587&hydadcr=7260_1742136&keywords=slick+50+gearbox&qid=1617736662&quartzVehicle=5-10137&replacementKeywords=slick+gearbox&s=automotive&sr=1-
NJT
Honestly, I would try any suggestions as I am just about at the end of my tether with it now! 🤦🏻♀️ Was your experience the same as mine with how the gearbox was behaving?
unofix
On both occasions trying to select either 1st or reverse was nearly impossible. I would put the clutch in and out half a dozen times and if I was lucky there would be a bit of a crunch and the car would lurch forward a bit, just as if I had selected the gear without putting the clutch fully in. Give it a try, its worth the money.
NJT
I will try it, thank you. I never get a crunch, it just feels as though someone has closed off the gear gates. I can move the stick side to side or in to 4th or above but nothing below!
