Mk. 4.5 Delays

The dealer told me that the new issue with delay is due to parts for the Focus being manufactured in Ukraine. Is this true?

That's part of the problem.  A lot of wiring looms are made in Ukraine.  However, we still don't have enough microchips even if we could get the wiring to fit between them.

Yes this is what I’ve been told. Think it was specifically parts for the new SYNC 4. My dealer told me that they can’t source the part so Ford have made a decision to make the next batch with the old SYNC 3… praying that my car (which is still in New Flush) has the SYNC 4

I really hope that's not the case, Sync 3 is a backwards step.

That's exactly what the workers in the Ukrainian factory making the Sync4 units said.

In between dodging flying bullets and avoiding falling missiles they have promised to try and keep production going.

It is indeed, but Ford needs to find a solution for this since it's not OK to have cars with old Sync 3, I think most of us bought this car mainly for the new Sync 4...

..... first world problems.

Only Ford are affected by the world wide shortage of electronic parts, all other manufactures are at full production and delivering all orders on time. What the CEO of Ford needs to do is have a chat with Mr. Putin and ask if he wouldn't mind stopping the war with Ukraine long enough for those who desperately need delivery of there new Focus Mk4.5 with the essential Sync4 can get their cars, and then he can start dropping bombs again.  Really ?????

I think you misunderstood me. It's not good to rely only on one manufacture since many things can happen. What I can say it's that I'm really disappointed that Ford communication it's really poor.

My dealer told me the Sync 4 production was being moved to Spain

All the news articles imply production has shifted to Spain for Sync 4 hence the delayed date.

I highly doubt Ford would fit Sync 3 as the dashboard wouldn't fit the unit and I suspect the integration to the OLED screen being the steering wheel wouldn't work without recoding and flashing the software

Just how are we deciding that the war in the Ukraine plus continued issues with semi-conductor shortages and virtual full lockdown in China is only affecting Ford? Other manufacturers are definitely not running full production unfortunately

Didn’t get the sarcasm did you?

Probably not, it’s been a long day 😳

The same model and time I ordered mine.Originally I was told build date in May, then last quarter, the latest  a couple of weeks ago was build in July,

Spoke with my dealer yesterday for an update. Vehicle currently in Dagenham awaiting a QC check.

Order date early Jan - ST Line Vignale 155, auto.

I think July it's a generic build date for all the cars that are ordered in feb.

My Titanium X had initially October build date, now it has July, but idk if this is true or not, hard to believe since the factory is closed till June

Please specify that this is an existing order by the dealer and not a custom one made by u.

Where did you get the information the factory was closed until June, As far as I’ve found It initially closed a couple of weeks end of March/April then has been reduced hours and then due to shut for another two weeks in May and then back to short hours. But then there is also the fact the factory has a summer shutdown for what I believe is 4-6 weeks so if they are not working no one will be getting cars still Winter

Ford Saarlouis: Derzeit keine Produktion - Entscheidung über Zukunft im Juni (sol.de) From here 🙂 Yeah, Ford is dead indeed, I don't think they'll close the factory in the summer, if they'll do this, they'll have big losses.

Did you read that properly?
This article is from last Wednesday and there is a sentence about possible resumption of production next week which is in fact this week - so workers were at home for like a few days and now they are probably back working. (this is not a new situation in 2022).
So please stop spreading fake news.

My man, it's not fake news, it's the reality. I'm trying to lower people's expectations since there are really low chances to get the car this year.

It is all very frustrating, just wish Fords were up front with us all.

All these delays, things are going from bad to worse. Today I had to wait twenty minutes in McDonald's just to get my chicken nuggets. I wish they had said when I placed my order that I was going to have to wait. 🙁

Was the same at "Spoons" yesterday....was gonna call for some lunch but the app said there was a 15 to 20 mins wait for food so we didnt bother and came home instead. Ended up with a glass of red with my lunch instead of a pint of Shipyard IPA ☹️
