I've just booked my 4 year / 36000 mile service for my mk4 Focus (1.0l petrol, manual) and apparently it's going to cost £435.40!!!!! Since when did a service cost that much?

No brake fluid in that price? Seems a lot.

Try phoning round a few dealers to compare.

OUCH..... Here's me thinking that £150 was a tad on the high side for the cambelt change on the noddy car.

Definitely find out what the 4yr service includes. Good luck.

4 year service is now the major service with 2 yearly oil changes.  It's the expensive one that includes spark plugs.  (Previously the 3 year service on cars with a yearly oil change.)

Prices are ridiculous nowadays...but you can still get them cheaper by shopping around...  Also worth noting it's out of warranty so you can go elsewhere...maybe try a Ford specialist.  Also try to get an MOT thrown in for a better deal.

just wait till you get the wet timing belts replaced in a few years time. The cost now is £1500, so by the time comes to change yours expect to pay £2000

Ah! a chain now just wait till they suddenly all start failing, that could push the price up even more 🤣🤣

[must admit I totally missed the fact it's a MK4 - very lucky for the OP]

Check out the "Compare Instant ServicingDeals" item on this forum.

When I bought my MX5 (about 12 years ago - still have it!) - came the 4th year service, I decided to put it back into the main dealers for its service, which included a set of spark plugs, total cost about £240. I'd booked it all in by email and specifically asked for a list of what was included, and spark plugs were on the list Plugs were on a 4yr/60,000 mile change interval, car had by then done 32k miles. They rang to say car was ready, bill would be £240-ish but they hadn't changed the plugs 'cos the mileage was so low". A slight insistence on my part resulted in a new set of plugs by the time I arrived to collect the car, completed with the email to hand in case I needed to have further "discussions".
