At least it's good to know your thread been going fairly constant since Nov 2020.

Being 'green' is all very well if you're rich, most of us aren't...

This is exactly the sort of thinking that has prevented change over the last 50 years.  And the reason we need fewer old people in government making decisions that will never affect them.

Everyone knows the planet is getting ruined, but it's 'easier' to leave that for the next generation to clear up, knowing the effects will be minimal in their own lifetime.

Trouble is, we're reaching the point where people born today will be the generation for whom it's no longer possible to use that excuse...

I don't agree that net zero is the way to go, but we also can't just pretend it'll all be fine for the next generation or the one after that.  If you're not interested in them, fair enough, that's your opinion to have, but some of us are, and that's an equally valid opinion.

Governments often have to make decisions that will 'never effect them'. The whole process is littered with 25 to 40 year strategies. When I was in local; government, we often produced planning documents that had a 25 year end date from publication.

The 'age' of the people that draw these plans up are a red herring. A 25 year old Councillor/MP will have as much an insight of what might happen in 25 years as a 50 year old. Except the 50 year old will have more experience to draw upon on what has happened in the past.

At least we agree on that basic principal. I often ask 'believers' that if 'net zero' is ever reached, will that be the end of climate change? Common sense tells you it won't, but I'll say it again, the amazing thing about common sense is it's really not that common...
