End of the Line - RIP Fiesta!

I presume it will go into to a museum somewhere. There are a few signed last cars at Gaydon motor Museum. I agree, it needs to be lacquered/clear coated to preserve it.

Well, I had the "24 hour" test drive this morning but I'd had quite enough after 3 or so! As mentioned earlier, my objective was really to see if the 155 suited the Puma better, which I felt it d

I picked up my 1st new car from Ford in 2009 middle of the night to drive on the 1st day. It was the new shape and I was very excited. It was black and I was shocked to get financing and so didn't ask for any extras lol.  Then I got another new one 3 years later before the MOT kicked in and I've been on the same loop ever since.  I just picked up a new Titanium X ecoboost 125 hybrid today. Race Red! My 2nd red car from them. Just realised I've had 7 titanium cars since the new shape came out. Insurance was then £300 and now its just over £600 (daughter is on the insurance now).  Love the car, will love the heated steering wheel and seats in the winter. The sales guys are my friends as I've known them all this time lol.  They said with the war in Ukraine there has been a lack in chips so my car didn't come with Sat Nav or folding mirrors. There was no order just picked one that was in the shop as production finished a few weeks ago.  Also noticed that no space for sunglasses 😮 However I love Fiestas and don't know what I'll go for after. I'll have to keep this as long as possible as I really don't want the "bigger" puma. I always have had previously, before I was able to buy new, Ford or Vauxhall.  Will miss Ford. Hello Vauxhall maybe.

You really are on some type of crusade, every car manufacture in the world according to you is cr*p unless they come from Japan 🤣

Unfortunately with the Fiesta’s it is true, fantastic chassis & handling which Ford have been ‘masters’ of for decades, but that is we’re the ‘love’ ends. That engine is a total f@#$&*% disaster.I have owned many, many fast Fords, never have I witnessed an engine with so many issues. If Ford had done their homework in the engineering department, many people would not have had to put up with it.Then, you get to the ‘Powershift’ transmission issues, another disaster. As I alluded to, the Japanese have always built very reliable cars. They are engineered for reliability & durability. As you know I own one, great car to drive & a lot of fun in the handling department.Euro cars are not a patch on their Japanese counterparts in the relability stakes.Anything from the VW group, you would not touch.Unfortunately with the Fiesta, people are just not getting a reliable product for their money.

Oh, it's just the Fiesta you have an issue with then. Over 40 years, I have owned 4 x Japanese cars, along with Ford, Peugeot, & Mercedes. They were all reliable (apart from as stated previously the Mercedes)

The thing that bugs me about your comments is your wide sweeping statements that ALL cars if they don't originate from Japan are rubbish, that is clearly not the case.

Have a look at the JD Powers list which for decades has been an industry leader in publishing 'reliability' of cars...

That's a link to the USA JD power surveys. Is there an UK/ Europe version?

I've never owned a Jap car.  An uncle of mine was a Japanese prisoner of war and, after I met him on his return home, I swore that I'd never purchase anything made in Japan unless I had no choice.

Found a what car reliability survey on small cars aged up to 5 years.

I simply wanted to illustrate that 'Japanese' cars are not the utopia in reliability, yes, they're good, but so are plenty of other brands. It also helps if they are well maintained...

I've ilustrated that japanese and Korean cars do top the tables each year. 10 out of the top 12.

Well done you buddy, that Australian chap will be just chipper over that 😂😂😂

Yes.

Only found info for 2018, but I'm sure with enough Googling newer results for the UK will be about.

Ford have never ‘topped’ the reliability charts. It has always been the Japanese, does that not tell you something? Ford & GM have been serving up rubbish for many years.

What an earth has the war got to do with purchasing a product? Same could be said for the Germans, could it not? The Japanese are a very different nation/ people today.

I bow to your superior knowledge. It's obvious that Japanese cars are truly the worlds best, and anyone that has bought anything else deserves all they get. I don't know why they all don't just shut up shop, close all their production plants down, close all their worldwide dealerships, and just leave the Japanese car makers to it. On their boarded up windows, they can put a sign up,"'Hackney' said we were rubbish, please shop Japanese..." :toot:

Again, such arrogance! If someone has a personal reason for boycotting a brand, that's their business, not yours...

Why do they do massive sales worldwide? Toyota now is ahead of VW in the sales stakes. It outsold VW by 2 million vehicles worldwide. It has been the #1 automaker for a couple of years now.The Koreans are now selling massive amounts of vehicles because they are also very, very good.Chinese are now the big movers & shakers of the automotive world. The automotive landscape is changing around the globe. Next you will be saying we shouldn’t be purchasing Chinese goods.

Same could be said for German cars, could it not? Yet many people still buy them even though the Germans did some horrific things in WW11?

OMG, you really have missed the point! Never once have I disputed the reliability of Japanese cars! Read my posts, I have owned 4, in fact now 5 as I've inherited my mums Toyota Yaris. All I've ever done is dispute your exaggerated premise that every other brand is rubbish - they're not.

A lot of Euro stuff is, VW for one is a toxic brand, treat their customers with disdain. The DSG debacle for one.LR is another one, many cases here with them throwing customers under the proverbial bus, only to be taken to court & lose.MB is much the same here.Lexus is the exact opposite fantastic to deal with, no I have never owned one, but personally know of people who own them. No, you are correct not ‘every’ brand is rubbish but a lot you would not touch because of inherent issues with them. Would I purchase another Ford? Not ever.I have had many. But there are so many brands out there today. All we had to pick from in the sixties & seventies was the same stuff served up from GM & Ford.Once the Japanese started producing some really good stuff( & later on the Koreans) the motoring scene changed for the better. To be fair though, the early Japanese & Korean stuff was very average.

Only thing I have to say on the matter without reading all the twaddle..... @Hackney , if it is so perfect and delightful then please feel free to ***** off to Japan, stay there and stop plaguing a Ford site with your ***** ramblings, good chap. 👍🏻

Have been a couple of times! But in saying that Ford have f@#$&% up royally with the Ecoboost 1.0. It could have been a really good engine if it had not been for that wet belt, took them nigh on ten years to change to a chain, even then there is still a belt on the pump.Work that one out.Puma now has a chain, but still remains to be seen how reliable they are going to be in the long run. The fiesta basically is a fine little car, let down by its engine & trans. Spoken like a ‘true’ Pom @Mavroz, ok old ‘chap’!
