Alternate tyre sizes

Sadly my mk2 focus now need all 4 tyres.

On the car at the moment are 205 50 r17 but these tyres are expensive for anything that isn't budget ditch finders ( midrange starts at over £100 per tyre) which gets very expensive when looking at 4 tyres. (especially just after Christmas)

I have found a website which lists an alternate tyres size is 225 45 r17 which come out almost £20 cheaper per tyre.

(error is 0.4% so is close enough)

Has anyone swapped their tyre size? And how did the car handle after?

Thanks in advance

225-45-17 will fit perfectly as long as the rims are 7 or 7.5 Inch wide.

Many original Focus MK2/MK2.5 17 Inch rims are only 6.5 Inch wide. 225 mm tires are too wide for a 6.5 Inch wide rim.

I never noticed a difference in handling between 205-50-17 and 225-45-17 on my previous Focus MK3.

Thought the 17inch wheels were 7jx17 ET52.5

Online suggests the 15inch wheel is 6" wide. The 16 & 17 wheels are 7" wide and 18 is 7.5".

Feel free to correct me if this is wrong. I'm going by this website.....

So I suggest to either take a look at the dimensions at the inside of the wheel or post a picture of the wheels you have.
