Latest Ford Maps update, install error!

Good afternoon all.

Finally got the correct map update from the ford website for my 2020 Vignale.

I have downloaded from the ford website & extracted the files to a formatted EX FAT USB. As soon as I pug the memory stick in the car I get this error message.

This is the first time I have had an issue, anybody else having the same problem?

I have re-downloaded the file and checked both and there does not seem to be any difference??

    Unfortunately @Mark-UK with a MY20 vehicle, the Cyanlabs reformat tool doesnt work. So its a sit and wait until 'they' fix the issue.

Wow looks like another Ford ***** up, this has been going on for months, 1st we had the update notification for the 49KB file which done nothing & now another error. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm getting exactly the same thing. Tried 2 different sticks as I know one can sometimes play up. Haven't tried to redownload yet. Both sticks were formatted to ex-fat and usually don't have any problems with the 2nd stick as used this many times for sync and map updates.

Small correction to that statement. It has been going on for at least 2 or 3 years that I know of. Many different problems but one common result, 'the update doesn't work !'

it's little wonder that more and more people are choosing to use the Cyan-Labs update site.

I tried a 2nd download and compared the files & they are identical & getting same error. Looks like another messed up download just like the recent 49KB file.

Im not actually sure it is the download that is the problem, I think there needs to be an update to the actual main Sync version, before this current update is installed, but lets see what happens.

The error code showing seems to point a low memory? Ok for an individual vehicle, but everyone is having the same issue. I guess it will be resolved in a few years. 

I had the same issue well over a year ago, the only way I could sort it out was going down the Cyanlabs route, which formats the complete Sync system and reinstall a clean fresh version.

Unfortunately @Mark-UK with a MY20 vehicle, the Cyanlabs reformat tool doesnt work.

So its a sit and wait until 'they' fix the issue.

I havent actually tried this out myself, but apparently its because the new map license file isnt included within the download package, and thus it will not install.

 

There are no maps in this download. Just voice files. Mem error means not enough space to install. 

Dont shoot the messenger, I just obtain this advice from the Cyanlabs crew!

What update is this? Is it a recently new one? It's taken me about 15 attempts to update to the latest sync off the Ford site and maps F11...not sure I can be bothered going through it all again

As I said:

But what update is it, F12? When I put my VIN number into the ford website it says both SYNC and maps are up to date and I don't have an option to download anything else...

No, not new maps.

Just voice nav files.

Your Sync unit will still say F11, because that is the map data and there is no map data in this download.

OK, thanks for that. If I do get offered it I'll probably give it a swerve until I have to do it now I know it's not a full map update.

Sorry, but how is any of this information relevant?!  Just seems like a barrier.

 

 

Like with most big companies the support email just go off basic flowcharts and have no real information or any clue besides being able to tell you where your nearest dealer is. You’d probably get more sense out of a brick wall about anything technical. 
 

I wouldn’t waste the energy honestly. Just wait and the community will tell you when new maps are available and working. Or if you really can’t wait do it with the leaked files/cyanlabs. 
 

Sync 3 will be in maintenance only support now, not likely to be any new features or noticeable changes and even with the annual map updates (which are always from the year before) most people use CarPlay or android auto anyway. 

Hi, the latest update I have been offered is Map_8580509305_Update, I too get the MEM_ERR01 message when trying to update. I, like others, have been told that the update contains only Voice Files and that a Licence File is missing, not sure how to tell Ford of this issue, Ford Customer Care just refer you to a dealer, as my Focus is now out of warranty I do not want to pay for their time to investigate. Copy of autoinstall.lst

I’d just wait until there is a more meaningful update released. There is no benefit to installing this.

Hi all, been a while since the Ford map update ***** up.

I contacted Ford UK but got the usual response to visit my local dealer.

Been checking the update on the website & still showing the update 8580509305.

I downloaded it just to check & it's the exact same contact which will give you an error message on install.

Has anybody else had any success with this one.

I am getting this exact same issue. Any news on a fix?
