This is what's baffling me, mine is a 2020 model, Have logged back into my Ford & still showing as Sync 3 update available but still no option to download to a USB?

Its probably what the problem is then.  Not sure what to suggest, apart from contact Ford.

Unfortunately @Mark-UK with a MY20 vehicle, the Cyanlabs reformat tool doesnt work. So its a sit and wait until 'they' fix the issue.

  • I've also tried the update and got this.😞

Yes it's the same update offered to everyone on 3.4 and it has protections to stop it being installed on the wrong system as long as you don't change anything.

Also can confirm the 22.8GB update is the full F12 maps and voice files.

Thanks Alex

Quick question Alex, If I use the download link posted above, will I get the option to upload the log file once complete? As there is no option to download for me via the Ford site, I'm unsure if I will get an option to upload?

Yes I downloaded the sync update 3.4.23188 today and installed it without any problem. I downloaded the maps update but as stated it was 22.7 gb, so I haven't yet installed it on my car, I'm wondering how long that would take as it took 3 hours to download on my pc. On the app it says 150 - 190 mins I think, but I wonder, that's  a long drive if your not going anywhere.

It will generate the xml. But you’ll need the option to confirm it on the website. It’s usually after the download links. Alternatively when you’re done, connect it to your WiFi if it’s in range of where you park and turn on auto updates then it should report back itself.

Just to confirm, the sync 3 update from the link by SGTAWILSON has been successful. And thank you AlexP999 for your help, the log file was generated on a wifi auto update. I now have the F12 map download option on the my Ford website so will download later. I'm still baffled as to why a Sync 3 update notification was showing with an available update but no option to download via USB?? Thank you all for you kind help in resolving this.

Good to hear. I’d turned WiFi updates off now until you’ve done the map update manually or it could keep trying to do maps and getting stuck because it’s so big.

You are very welcome, glad we can be of some assistance.

Aye,  seems fixed for me now too.

Hi all, just an update.

The F12 map update took 3 hours to install via USB, wow!!!

Good job I had a long driver planned, sod leaving your engine ticking over that long, actually wondering how long it would take via WiFi.

Anyway all done now, and again thank you all for your kind help.

I was going to ask how long the maps update took to install, so thanks for that info.  Sounds like a 'driving home for Christmas' journey is needed.

Yes it was the slowest update I have ever had. Part 1 took 90 minutes, then the system as normal re-booted and a further 90 minutes for part two. So I certainly recommend waiting until you have a planned long drive.

Just to confirm I updated my maps at the weekend,  a similar experience to Anorakmark .  I have never used my satnav yet since owning the car, but I'm glad that all the latest updates are installed. Guess it's a bit of a ocd thing.

Italian translated with Google Translate.

Good evening everyone, given that I update the SYNC3 of my Focus via USB key, I too had repeatedly received the error code: MEM_ERROR01 when attempting to install the map update package contained in the 7.92 GB .zip file Map_8580509305, not succeeded.

Today I downloaded the software update 3.4.23188 and installed it in 20 minutes, then I also downloaded the new map update package contained in the Map_24523792425 file of 22.7 GB. I will try to install this later, I hope it goes well despite the absence of the previous map file, can anyone confirm that it works correctly?

I'm not sure that's 100% true. On the previous set of maps I installed from Cyanlabs F12 the new junction on the M55 wasn't there (well not on mine), but did the update again to include the new voice files (again via CyanLabs) and I was surprised that it is now (but with all the wrong road names on the link road)

Maybe it was just an issue for me, but wonder if anyone else has see a minor addition to their maps.

Ok, so finally just had to undertake a long journey, so stuck in my maps updated USB stick and updated to F12 maps, which took 3 hours.

Upon completion I did a master reset of the Sync system, just to make sure all installed correctly.

All has installed correctly and ive managed to upload the log file, but to my surprise the parking sensor noises have changed, and so too have the system beeps and their volume.

Has any one else noticed this??

Happy New Year to you all.

Parking sensor noise won’t be related. It happens when either the battery is low or communication with the ACM is interrupted and it uses a backup beeper. It usually fixes itself the next time you use the car.

Good morning everybody!

I've reached your forum by searching what to do with the MEM_ERR01 message on my Mustang GT MY2022. I did a mistake and I downloaded and installed the maps for North America. The website and the car did not send me any warning that I was on the way installing NA maps over EU maps, knowing the VIN number. Anyway, my mistake. Then when I tried to install the correct F12 EU maps I got the error.

Here is what I found out in the last month or so.

Ford Customer Service is useless. They asked me to run the interrogator tool and send them the xml file, which I did. Then they sent me to my Ford garage which kept the car for two days without resolving the issue. They tried different things without knowing what they do, just trial and error. Amateurs. They kept my car running on idle for two days.

Then I contacted the Ford Customer Service in US. They asked me tons of questions then they sent me back to my local Ford Customer Service, giving me the phone number for the website. Like I did not know it... They did not want to listen the issue even. Amateurs.

CyanLabs solution does not work in my case. You need to run the interrogator tool to see what version of the unit your car has. Then, for some version the CyanLabs procedure will brick the unit - I'm in this case. No go here.

The other option is to jailbreak the unit using the FMods software. It is a bit cumbersome but in the end, if nothing else works, I'll give it a try. But, I might lose the warranty...

Then, it is a possibility that installing the future F13 EU Maps when available, to resolve the issue. Not sure about this but maybe it worth the waiting. This could happen later this year or earlier 2025.

I'm wondering if somewhere in the Ford Company there is indeed a procedure to address this error, to delete old maps, or to reset the unit, or to install new maps over old maps etc. With all the silence from Ford on this issue, I currently believe it is none... Amateurs.

If anybody has an update on this please post a message. Thanks.
