Your car is probably is deep sleep mode due to low battery charge.  Best way to test that is to drive it and see if the app info comes back.

Thanks, would that be the hybrid battery under the seat or the main battery?

  • Yes, Ford have got all the data on both of their customes 🤣🤣

  • I tried removing location permission from the app but it continued to work fine. Of course then only the car's location is shown on the map, not yours as well, as you'd expect.

The main 12v battery.  The same problem happens on both hybrid & non-hybrid Fords of this era.

The problem is not the android phones and re-installing the app does not solve the problem. The app, since the upgrade, is faulty and only Ford's IT dept. can fix it. Mine is working now.....but only occasionally. As soon as Ford admit that the problem is theirs and finally fix the app, this situation will continue. They don't seem to care and customers come last in the pecking order and seem to be treated as a nuisance, rather than a necessary part of their existence as a company.

I'm now not sure if this message on the app is app related or if there is an issue with my car? Any thoughts please?

I'm getting a similar message, but the voltage in my 12V battery is showing as 13V - so surely it can't be that the battery is low on charge?

EDIT: I've just taken the vehicle on a run down the local dual carriageway and it seems to be behaving at the moment.

A 12v battery won't rest at 13 volts so that can't be an accurate measurement.

At the moment the battery is showing 12.7V (after the run), but am still getting the error above about remote features being disabled? Any advice, or should I contact Ford to see if there's something wrong with the battery?

That's probably not a resting voltage either.  Really you need to leave the car parked for an hour with the bonnet up before checking.  It'll probably be around 12.4v when it does settle.

The issue may be with the battery monitoring system.  So the car thinks the charge is lower than it actually is.  It may just take a couple of drive cycles to adjust properly.  In a couple of cases we've seen, it has needed a full reset by disconnecting the battery for half an hour.

You are welcome to contact Ford if you're still concerned (and the car is under warranty) but I'd give it a few more days myself.

I've left the car for a couple of hours since the drive, and have just checked it - so really not sure what's going on in that case. Am using the Maypole charger (recommended on here!) to try and check the voltage.

Ah, that's the problem.  The Maypole shows you how much charge it's putting into the battery.  That is not an accurate way to test the actual battery voltage.  You need a multimeter for that.

Ah, gotcha - so it's probably worth leaving it on a trickle charge tomorrow and seeing what difference that makes?

Yes, absolutely.

If not already aware, you should put the negative clip on the chassis earth so that the battery monitoring system can detect the charge.

It won't register the charge if you clip on the battery negative terminal.

Be interested to hear how you get on.

A small update on the App not showing the vehicle Location on one of my phones.

I phoned the App Helpline today and they said it was a known issue on some phones and there should be an update to the App sometime this month, we will see.

I was polite and just did it silently😄

I have the Active Alerts "Temporarily Unavailable" message, too. I emailed the Ford Pass customer service people on 13 November and the very quick reply told me that I should uninstall the Version 5. 7. 0 that was running on my Samsung Android 14 phone and install the new Version 5. 8. 0 from the Google Play Store. I did just that and it reinstalled Version 5. 7. 0! I then telephoned Ford Pass Customer Service who were unaware that Google Play Store was still only supplying Version 5. 7. 0. Apparently the Apple Store is uploading Version 5. 8. 0. to iPhones okay. She was confident that Version 5. 8. 0. would solve the problem when it's available on Google Play Store.

I had a similar issue recently saying that the vehicle health wasn't avaiable in the app. Also the update center wouldn't recognise the VIN number in order to check for map/Sync update availability. Emailed Ford and apparently there was an error that they fixed. It then told me there was a map update available so proceeded to download it via wifi but the car told me it was all up to date. I did it with a USB stick and it worked but didn't create a log file. Found out how to do it and emailed it to Ford over the weekend - not heard back yet.

I wanted to start the car remotely to warm it up this morning but it failed although it worked a few weeks ago. Apparently it disables remote start if there is an active alert- I have a message saying to prepare to book an oil change. Does anyone know how to get rid of the message?

I remember when I worked for a Ford dealer network, there was a requirement to get customers to install Ford Pass onto their phones.

Years later, Ford have reduced the apps features and some of the remaining ones don't work.

Ford Pass Pro was useful but that's no longer available.

I suppose electric cars allow Ford to grab customer data much easier, although their EV sales aren't very good,so the data capture won't be as high as they want

You could always use your phone browser to check your car

More useful than the Ford Pass app

When you say "more useful"...

I get "Oops something went wrong" when I click on service history, and apparently my next service isn't due until June 2027 🙄

The app has updated and is all working now. Things have moved around a bit too.

I now have v5.8.0 on android but location still not working/updating on journey. No refresh button like there used to be, any thoughts please?

Thank you, can you please confirm if you are using iOS or Android? Also, if you monitoring a journey, i.e. like I was checking my wife got there ok, how do you see the location change as I can't see how you refresh page?

Many thanks
