Climate change nonsense...

There is always something like this, which heats or cools up to five rooms with one external heat pump unit. It looks relatively cheap to purchase, but I would wonder about installation and running costs.

Where do you mount an external heat pump on an upstairs flat?

Would any landlord authorise that?  They certainly wouldn't pay for it!

These units are intended for houses with gardens, rather than flats.

It would have to be hung on the wall outside, but, as you say, would the landlord authorise it?

That's the cost if permanently running an electric iron - not cheap!

That was the original point though.  I'm stuck in a tiny flat upstairs, as are many others across the UK.  Can't get outside easily into fresh air.  And don't have enough space for even a 'portable' AC unit, because they end up huge when the exhaust vent is added and that needs to go through a large open window, something else which is considerably lacking in small UK flats.  It's over 25c in here constantly for at least 4 months of the year now.  My fridge doesn't even work properly because the ambient temp is too high.  There's no way to escape the heat up here and no way to adapt it.  It's alright for boomers in fully paid off mansions to suggest climate change isn't affecting them...it is affecting many of us even in the UK, let alone the rest of the world.

What should be the average (normal) temperature there?

But, they should go on & off on a thermostat, not run continuously. However, I still think I will stick to my old gas boiler, until that idiot Milliband raises the tax on gas too much.

Indoor room temperature should be 18-22c.

It's always over 25c in here during summer now.  And often over 30c for several weeks at a time during heatwaves.  We've already had 3 heatwaves this year and only in July!

Outdoor daytime temp is generally over 20c for almost half the year now down south.  It is cooler up North in the UK.

3c more is not very much, but 6-7c more is indeed a lot more than normal.
