sculmer
Hi My daughter's car, a 2005 1.4 Fiesta Zetec has been diagnosed with a leaking water pump, initially the garage quoted £207 to supply and fit the replacement (2 hours + parts), now they say it will be £425 as when they went to replace the pump, there are a couple of bolts that cannot be reached unless they remove the timing cover which means they might as well replace the timing belt too(>4 hours). Called a couple of garages and they all say its a 1.9~2 hour job and neither of them said they would have to change the timing belt. Am I getting good sound advice or am I being mislead? mintalkin
the first garage is fishing for work unless the mileage is coming into cambelt change peramitors, taking the cover of is a minor job and they should have known this in the origanal quote. its like saying now we have the wheel of to change a tyre we might as well fit new brakes as well. go to another garage.
