Flashing Amber Light

I have a ford fiesta style 1.4 tdci. On the rev counter there is a flashing yellow light. It looks like a gear with an explanation mark in the Center of it. I was on the motorway and it came on flashing, I slowed right down got home let the car cool down and now it's gone off! I haven't tried doing anything with it yet, not even taken it for a drive. I didn't have a manual with the car so I was just wondering what the light means.

any help will do.

Thanks,

Did it have like cogs in the picture. If so, this is transmission "hot mode". Might want to check gearbox oil
