suddste
Hi Just had my first ever scratch and it's a large one. Scraped against a wall in a (very) tight parking spot, there's a lot of white marks around the nearside back wheel arch. Any ideas on how to remove these pretty bad scratches? Brigante
If they really bad n you don't wanna pay about 70quid to get it done profesionally, you could always tackle it yourself by sanding the scratches down n buying a spray can of primer, a can of lacquer and a colour matched can of paint. If the scratches are too deep to sand down you could can a can of primer filler and build the coats up to fill the scratch then sand to a smooth flat surface. Then mask off the surrounding area with tape then spray light coats of paint, letting it dry for 20min in between coats and gradually blend to the rest of the bodywork. Brigante
I know how you feel man but it could be worse, about a week after I bought my car, parked in a carpark with the missus, come back out to find about 5 dirty deep scratches right down to the plastic on the passenger side corner of the front bumper where someones either scraped along it with a trolley or pulling out from the space next to me. Got all the required spray cans and sandpaper from Halfords n was just waiting for decent weather so I could set about repairing it myself. Then a week later driving home from work, literally 4minutes from my house, a !Removed! lorry decides to cut me up leaving a roundabout.. Ripped a massive hole in the same corner of the bumper as well as badly dented my passenger front wing panel and even tool out one of my alloy centre caps. So before I could even repair the scratches I ended up having to replace the whole front bumper instead as well as buy a new wing panel n centre cap. Ended up costing around 150quid :( So like I said, your case could be worse ;)
Brigante
Oh yeah, Halfords also do a scratch repair kit consisting of 3 mini pen type things consisting of a primer, lacquer and a colour matched paint for about 15quid. Same thing, you build up the layers of primer in the scratch, paint then lacquer. Do you know what exact paint colour your motor is?

I could post a pic to see what you think?
Brigante
Post a photo mate. The repair kits kind of the same except you brush it on or use like a pen nib. Might work on deep scratches just build the primer up in layers This is what you'd need http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_198021_langId_-1_categoryId_165580 All in one. Was going to post everything you'd need to spray it, but Halfords don't seem to have a colour matched 'honour green' spray can, just in the repair kit I listed

Preee
Your not going to repair those scratches with a small repair kit , i would seek out a professional , looks like small dents will need filling as well.

Preee
how about to get it to look "less worse" All a paint stick is going to do to those scratches is help to stop it going rusty , if you don't want a garage to do it then , take the plunge , push out as many dents as possible but removing the wheel arch liner , fill it , smooth it prime and spray it , its all about the finish standard of the prepping into how good the final finish will look , Probably about 30 quid in parts to have a go at it yourself. You could waste 18 pound on just a Halford's small repair kit. I filled rust on an Old rover i used to own and had never attempted it before , ok i had to rub it back a couple of times but in the end , with cutting back and polishing , it turned out really well. Stoney871
You could try giving Chips Away a shout and see what they can do. http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/

What is a paint stick? (I'm sorry I really dont have a clue about paint) A friend said they had a scratch the same as me (they could see the whiteness) and used t-cut and it worked. What about t-cut? Stoney871
I'm afraid all the T-Cut in the world won't make paint reappear. All it does is remove surface scratches, and none too subtly either. You'll need a bit of a respray on those scratches i'm afraid. A friend of mine who does car detailing for a living recommended Brasso and a microfibre cloth for small blemishes and scratches as it's milder and less scratchy than T-Cut. Brigante
Yes mate gonna have to go with Preee on this one now, those are more than just really bad scratches, those are dents :( so painting it won't fill it in. Can try tackling it yourself by pushing the dents out but if your not confident enough I'd try chips away like Clive said but it'll obviously cost more but it'll be done right. How'd you manage to do that much damage mate? :(

NorthSussex
Hi John, You do get into some scrapes if you will excuse the pun, I would try Chips Away as Stoney recommended, it looks too big a job for a first attempt at DIY body repair. Good luck.

NorthSussex
so it'd be about £70? Looks like X3, door, rear wing, bumper. = £
