tomloaf
HI I have a MK1 ford focus with a slight issue. Sometimes the acceleratorgoes crazy. It has only happened about three times once about a year ago and twicein the last month. While driving along it starts to accelerate without my footon the pedal. When I put the clutch down it revs as if I have my food on the acceleratorup tot about 4-5k. It happens for a little bit a stays even if the car isturned on and off but then goes after a little bit. As it is an intermittentfault it is hard to know if I have found the true problem. The cable is fineand the think the TPS sensor is fine as I took that out and put a multi meter acrossit and it seems ok. I have read it might be the 02 sensor. But I obviously don’twant to replace things needlessly Any help would be great Thanks Tom
Morgie
Had the same problem on my zetec have you replaced the clutch pedal position sensor on top of the pedals its a purple or pink plug on top of the pedals cheap as chips £10 ford part easy to fix yourself 5 mins it just twists off and the same on the reverse. There is a multitude of causes but start with this might just work. I had the whole pedal box replaced too Ford paid for this one .
