stef123
Well over the weekend I had the chance to replace both front springs on the mondeo - both of them had snapped the bottom coil! It's a nightmare of a job on the mondeo unless you want to take everything to bits! I had just removed the wheel, brake caliper/disc and drop link and started removing the lower ball joint pinch bolt when the spring shot down the shock absorber! So glad I wasn't on the motorway! mixmasterlooney
That looks worrying, any ideas what has caused it to fail? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Ford OC mobile app
stef123
Presumably just age and wear/tear. Both original springs and 8 year old, not bad I thought for a big heavy lump of a car
jeebowhite
this is what happens when you try to reenact films with flying cars Stef ;) :p it looks painful , but a good job it happened in a "controlled" manner I guess!
stef123
Haha! Back when I had my Clio, it was a flying car occasionally! Lol. I can still remember the first time that car left the ground very clear lol, back for another few goes before the car eventually gave up! I hope those springs never need done again anyway
