hi all , due to a lovely droning noise that s slowly getting worse , i have deduced that my nearside wheel bearing is on its way out . now i m reasonable with a spanner ,and the good old haynes seems to make it look quite straight forward.but before i start with the big hammer and the swearing has anyone actually replaced one ? is it ok ,or a bit of a b#tch. just thought i d ask ,cause if its a bit iffy i ll leave it to me local garage to fettle for me . cheers all ,swampduck

As you are asking this question I will take it that you are not a mechanic and as such I will say: do not change a wheel bearing yourself, under any circumstance. EVER

see this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10...ts-tightly.html

Take it to a good quality garage, or preferably Ford themselves.

Excellent! How much did they charge you for the pleasure? Only asking as I had some front wheel bearing change a couple of year back and I'm wondering if I was robbed. lol
