1.8 diesel engine problem

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've got a 2000 'W' reg escort van non turbo, I was driving along & noticed it had lost power sounded like it was running on three cylinders. I drove it for a while then decided to stop, i had to keep the revs up to stop it cutting out. I turned it off, had a look under the bonet, couldn't remove oil filler cap until it cooled down, tried starting since, sounds like it wants to but no luck. I've cracked all the injectors & theres fuel getting to all of them. Any ideas anyone??

i know it sounds silly but check that the hose to your airfilter is not lose
