2015 Ford Mondeo

Featured Replies

Manual always feel more Torquey as the auto gearbox has a torque converter which tends to lessen the feel of it. The auto is also a heavier gearbox meaning it too detracts from the power output of the engine.

Continue your search and even if you find a smaller manual engine you will find that the torque output of the manual is on par with the auto if not more so you would have a better idea of what the 2 litre will be like

The thing is that I am planning to order the new Mondeo for almost a month now and if I continue to search I will find alternatives which will only make things worse :)) at least for taking a decision. I do understand what you mean by the manual transmission. The local dealers that I've talked with have only automatic ones, which is strange but I can only accept it.

As for the configuration, I added almost everything on it and the new Mondeo will look mint.

Retractable roof top, automatic suspension setting, 18 inch wheels, tinted back windows, full leather, sport exterior kit, inflatable seat belts (back), reverse camera, solar protection for the windscreen.

The only thing holding me down is that I can't drive test a manual one and I have not seen any reviews of the 180HP version. Honestly I would have went for the petrol version, but they only come with automatic gearbox.

  • I stuck with the Mondeo, it's a company car so I was keen to get something as well speced as possible but also as economical as possible well bring down the cost of BIK Tax. Will be interesting to se

  • Depends if you lile to drive the car or sit on the side of the road haha

  • Well, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, therefore there is not much I can say about the Insignia :D

Petrol only has autobox? That is odd.... To be honest I recon you could blind buy the car and still be more than happy!

The better petrol engines come with automatic gearbox. I am also pretty sure that I would be happy but you, when you buy a car like this you need to be sure that it will satisfy your needs for a few good years ;)

Very true indeed. Surely they must be able to offer one of each engine for test drive in the local area lol, maybe I'm just too hopeful...

Well, I understand that they can't have all of them, but at least the top engines, in my opinion.

Absolutely. One auto of mid spec one manual of mid spec should suffice, if you get a feeling of the mid spec motor at least you know you can get more from the higher spec

I still haven't seen anybody here owning a new Mondeo, or I did not check well...

Check my last post 4 or 5 before your's - full review of the Mondeo Hybrid that's sitting on my drive way!👍

Just one person? Come on...I was expecting the Mondeo to be more popular in the UK.

Unless you ordered back in Dec, your not likely to be getting it anytime soon. Backlog is apparently roughly around 3 months at the moment.

It may be popular here in the UK but not every owner uses this or any other forum

If & when Fraud make a ST or TXS MK 5 I may be interested.

So not really interested in the engine range right?

Yes I am, & there's likely to be a real engine in either a ST or TXS version ( at least 200 B.H.P. ) & hopefully linked to a proper 6 speed manual gearbox.

I can but hope ! :)

Gone are the awesome days of high powered engines in reasonable spec cars

Reasonable spec' - or reasonable cost or both ?

Think my Focus ST 3 & Mondeo TXS deliver reasonable spec's at reasonable cost with more than enough B.H.P. & more importantly more than enough torque :)

The 180hp engine is not that bad. I went yesterday for a sdrive test and I've pressed the pedal better compared to the first time. Moreover the dealer was honest and mentioned that there were a few customers who had a drive test of thr bmw 320d (184hp) and the difference is not dramatic as some might eexpect, which sort of came as a surprise for me. I have to honest and admit that I've thought also of going for the 320d. I hope I will decide this week...

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying they are bad but I mean things like the v6 Mondeo St and the likes where you get massive brake horse power for everyday car money cost.

These days it costs a darn site more for a lot less and all because of eu policies that mean you can't have fun cars lol

D.P.F.'s & E.G.R.V.'s inhibit output - so blank & remap = fun ! :)

Could something be done to the 180hp engine?

Probably a bespoke remap.

Probably a bespoke remap.

What could be the end result considering the remap?

Remap would be best and yeah the guff Van be blanked and removed but the engines have to be tamed in design. Remap opens more fun but compared to the days of the v6 etc, the power post remap is just on par with the old cars whereas if you remap one of those you get triple awesome.

Let's just forget those days :D
