Door Mirrors

One of my door mirrors has a dotted line down it, which I presume is a split mirror feature for your blind spot - Is this correct ??

If so shouldn't this feature be on the drivers side mirror ??

Mine is on the passenger side, so I am kinda thinking they have fitted Left Hand drive door mirror glass rather than Right Hand drive glass (i.e. for the UK)

Just checking with the forum before I ask Fords a stupid question !!!!!!!!!

It's the same on all of them - and as you say is really on the wrong side!

Ford are aware of the issue, but have no plans to remedy it.

I think what it is is actually a wide angle mirror, for overtaking, not a blind spot mirror. That is what the dots signify. It's meant to give the driver a wider view to help with overtaking. And yes, in Britain Ford don't seem to mind that we have all got it on the wrong side of the car. It's crazy. But that is ....... Europe for you. Common sence goes out of the window. Er........... so to speak. LOL. At least we have the steering wheel fitted correctly.

Ford have fitted ashperic glass to the passenger side to meet european rules for the "field of view" that a mirror should achieve, the change of angle passed the dotted line increases "field of view" and makes the mirror legal.

I dont think i could trust such a small section of the left wing mirror to act as my blind spot aid. Nothing will beat a quick glance.

Im assuming that as the feature is only on the left side of the car i.e. the furthest from the driver, the feature is designed for overtaking as Reiki has mentioned.
