Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

The highway code only states you 'should not' obstruct drives.

It's courtesy rather than law, however it is very annoying and should result in instant crushing (especially for anything GM related).

You probably answered what I was just thinking about asking lol. As we're on the subject of cars blocking driveways, what about cars / vans parking opposite and near to junctions in a way that makes it difficult to drive into or out of the junction safely?

I'm asking cos there's a car that's recently started parking opposite my junction, and although it's only a cul-de-sac it still means that other cars are being forced onto the wrong side of the road when I leave for work every morning. This is made worse by a couple of huge vans that are always parked just a little bit down the road which makes it near impossible to see the traffic coming the other way. I'm think the way these vehicles are parked is going to cause an accident some day, and even though it's a 30 limit people come charging down at 40 plus, ignoring the parked cars, houses and junctions on both sides.

I didn't mean for this to become a rant lol, but I'm just wondering if people are allowed to park like this?

"Do NOT park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction" - Highway Code section 243

I wish people living in my area complied with that :P

Alternatively you could beat them with a copy of the book.

Excellent idea! :P

Then once they are laying motionless on the ground, i'd chuck the book at their (partially moving!) body and say "read it..." before scampering off.

Personally I think there should be compulsory theory retests every 5 years

People not using indicators

Out of many the one that cracks me the most are people that saunter out of a side road or slip road onto a dual carriageway using it as a right of way not a give way and expect other road users, irrespective of speed to avoid them, I have seen so many accidents caused by these specimens, Peterborough bypass, and A1 at Stevenage are famous by the amount of accidents plus the ensuing mayhem for other road users

The thing is the junction I'm talking about only leads to a residents parking area, so I don't know if it's even part of the highway so maybe it's not affected? Cars still come and go from it though so I don't see why not. And I think the vans are also parked in front of another junction. Maybe I can come up with a way to persuade them to move ;)

If the public has access to the road, then the Highway Code covers it I think.

Deflate their tyres a bit every night, get the lads together to bounce the vehicle out of the way or use a trolley jack and a couple of tea trays

I have that exact problem, around where I live the road is fairly easy going, so a lot of driving instructors use the area as a 'nanny track'.... And often park directly opposite the junction to my road (cul de sac), making getting out interesting to say the least I swear it one of these days one of the instructors is going to get a mouth full as surely they should know better

Very poor instructors / instruction.

In all fairness, my instructor was really strict with all rules and it really paid off as he has a really high number of passes.

He's also the reason I got my focus

Good to hear :)

My friend is a cyclist and he started taking driving lessons a few weeks ago. Yesterday he messaged me saying: "You were right! I f***ing hate cyclists, they're always in the way."

So even cyclists hate cyclists.

I am so glad your friend came to his senses hahaha

hate people turning left but dont use the perfectly good slip road provided so that when they break they don't cause traffic behind them to break aswell (slip road isnt on a motorway the one im talking about leads to a left turn)

I hate my girlfriends estate as people park there cars outside her house causing me or her to park a bit away and then have to carry the baby all the way down to her house.

Not liking my Ford Sony Stereo's mood swings,

It's always been prone to pausing during MP3 playback now and again, but really got on my bits this weekend.

I bought a couple of Mighty Car Mods (Moogs) albums and was eager to listen to them in the car,

Burned the MP3's to a CD, and it won't even play 5 seconds without pausing/jumping, then it just skips the tracks after a while

Thought it was a duff disc because it was coming up with a Drive Fault Error before finally playing,

I re-burned another CD, so second try while out shopping and it was still constantly jumping!

I ejected the CD and threw it into the passenger footwell in frustration.

Figured it might be a new codec problem, so i converted them in a fairly old program to a slightly lower quality,

Happy chappy on the way home today, not a single pause/jump ^_^
