Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

As an EX smoker I don't like having to walk through a wall of smokers and !Removed! smoke to get into a pub! I thought you weren't supposed to smoke in pub doorways?

Also don't like trying to change a wiper blade on the Qashqai in the pouring rain!

Not sure where the law stands regarding doorways, as technically you are still "outdoors".  On the subject, it just occurred to me that I haven't had a cigarette in over a month...  Mind you, I'm so short on money at the moment that I don't think I'd have the money for a pack even if I wanted to!!

Does the Qashqai have that new style fitment, or is it the old hook style?  I can change the latter in less than 30 seconds, but the new ones are a bit more time consuming.

Just had a quick Google and there doesn't seem to be any mention of smoking a certain distance from open doorways.

Don't know if you're actually trying to give up or not, but well done for going a month without a smoke  Keep at it.

Wiper isn't a hook type. The new wiper came with 5 different clips and none of them looked anything like what was already on the car!!! After I figured out what adaptor to use it was relatively simple  I bought a £4 single wiper from Tesco just as a 'Get me home until I can order something better' type of thing but it seems to be quite good and I went in the next day to get one for the other side............but they didn't have them in stock!

Not really.  I've never been addicted to smoking, it is something I do for pleasure and/or stress relief (better than taking a bottle of whisky to work!).  Not that any doctor these days would admit it, but I know that smoking no more than 1-2 cigarettes per day is as harmless as you can get (besides not smoking at all), and compared to my caffeine addiction (4-5 cups of heavily sugared coffee and 1 litre of energy drinks per day) it is the least of my problems...

Basically, I enjoy a Marlboro Red from time to time, but a pack can easily last me a month, if not longer.  Despite what the government would have you think, there are a lot worse things out there than the odd ciggy...

I bought Tesco "flat" wipers for the MK4 Fiesta years ago, and they were actually very good.  Never bought them since though, as their price seems to have gone up and I prefer buying Bosch as their quality is guaranteed, unlike supermarkets which can vary from month to month.  Plus none of our current cars were originally fitted with flat wipers (not that the MK4 was either!), and you know what I'm like with keeping things original!!

All areas open to the public including workplaces are considered smoke free zones where they are enclosed or substantially enclosed.

Enclosed: This is an area with permanent walls and doors without any gaps. Windows and doors aren’t classed as gaps. An enclosed structure may be permanent i.e. a building or even a marquee (temporary).

Substantially Enclosed:

This would be a structure (with a roof/ceiling) with an opening in the walls where the opening would make up less than half of the area of the total wall space. Again doors and windows are not classed as gaps.

I am a smoker and find it annoying that we comply with the law and don't smoke indoors but non-smokers still aren't happy.

Where are we supposed to stand? In the road?

I say that alcohol abuse is more anti-social than smoking but nobody whines about drunks staggering about.

I am a considerate smoker, whereby I don't waft it at people or blow smoke into their faces and never smoke if someone is eating nearby (even in smoking areas of outdoor restaurants).

The worst of all is ex-smokers, my Father smoked cigars for 40 years before quitting and drips like a busted tap if I smoke within 20 metres of him.

There's far more serious and dangerous things in the world, get over it.

The Roberts Stream93i is an excellent replacement,

Could try local phone repair shop to see if they can fix the remote or try ebay for remote

Been having a look at them online, get REALLY good reviews.

Can I ask you a quick favour? Can you see if you can get a station called The Mighty 690? It's an 80s station from San Diego that we stumbled across and listen to most Saturday nights whilst drinking wine and reminiscing about the music etc It could be a deal breaker for my wife  Cheers.

Will do mate,

Should be easy found as it has a global alphabetical search listing I'm in work now but I'll try it later and if i can get it on it, I'll upload a picture 👍

the 2.1 sound is amazing from it too as casing is completely made of wood 6" sub inside the back.

I also use Spotify on my phone which connects to the Roberts Stream93i from anywhere in the world via internet access😁

I can be miles away from home and still play music on the radio aswell as controlling the volume from zero to full belt 👍

I don't like finding my lawns and drive covered with pine needles and leaves, less than 24 hours after I'd swept up all the ones that came down in last week's wind:sad:

Glad to have found it for you mate,
I live 280km away from where I grew up, and my mother always listened to local radio station in the kitchen when I was a kid, I can still listen to the same station thanks to the internet radio on the Roberts Stream93i
I'm off rest of the day so if you want me to do anything else with it for you just ask 👍

:notworthy:

Excellent, many MANY thanks for doing that for me. Really is appreciated. Mrs T is nearly convinced now, but we'll maybe have to wait a wee while until other more important purchases are made......................or until Amazon have a sale :wink3:

If I have any more queries I'll maybe start another thread or PM you to keep this one clear.

will check its finished in 20 mins.lol

I don't like what the country roads have done to my car!

I love the countryside, but I have to admit one thing cities have going for them is being able to only wash your car once a month!  In the country you have to wash it almost daily, or it ends up like that!!

I don't like that when I try to post on this thread on my phone the above happens! When I try and post a comment it automatically inserts an empty quote box from GMX. I can't enter anything in the reply section, just the original author's bit!

Ughh.

I can see how you feel, it has turned you into an exact image of Grandpa Walter Grey (Greyland films)!:scared:

Or is that the result of working on Vauxhall's. Perhaps you have caught some dreadful affliction.

There is nothing wrong with being healthy & working safely, but most "health & safety" stuff has nothing whatever to do with either of those, and is probably counter productive. More paperwork & rubbish = Less real attention to actual safety. Or is that just me being cynical again?

TBH, It is all about shifting blame from the management level.

You hurt yourself and they just state that you were H&S trained & all activities were risk assessed - therefore protecting themselves from the fallout and you getting sanctioned for failing to comply.

ha ha , that photo was me and steph having a laugh lastnight on another thread, didnt realise i had left it on.

I hate bone headed brainless apes who block the road just so they don't have to queue and also white vans who think it's acceptable to undertake a queue at 60 on the hard shoulder and u have passed the entire hard shoulder and he isn't there so he wasn't suffering an emergency situation

I don't like the laundry I put out on the line on Monday is still damp, after several unexpected downpours passed by.

I also don't like being unable to decipher chinese.

That's a disadvantage of a black car: it really shows the dirt.

You can drive the same route, in say a tonic blue Mk1 Focus and only notice some slight dirt but in your panther black Mk2 Focus; it looks like you've driven through a mud bath:ohmy:

Very true!  I imagined that the lighter the colour of the car the more the dirt would show up, but black (the darkest you can get!) is actually one of the worst.

I don't like seeing the temperature forecast for tomorrow...  Looks like I'll have to warm the car up before leaving for work, and again before leaving at night!

I'd prefer yours to mine: I've got wet and windy to look forward too.

Brandy and I will get soaked twice tomorrow, albeit more forcefully on her evening stroll when the wind starts gusting at 40mph rather than 25mph
