Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

Tom, swap your car for a motor home, might be slightly less economical (only slightly lol) but you will always have a toilet with you! Up to now ive not been caught out with my IBS but i have been very close, to the point where ive run up the driveway clenching to get to the toilet! Definitely want a downstairs toilet if we move house again especially now theres 3 instead of just the 2 of us.

I don't like pushy feedback soliciting sellers on ebay, who send twice daily emails "please leave feedback for item x you bought from us", especially when I haven't actually received the item yet.

Personally I think growing up in Africa gas helped me deal with traffic here as no matter how bad it is, it is not as bad as a traffic jam in Nigeria. Lol

I'd heard the Nigerian traffic jam is considerably worse than the often cited Filipino traffic jam.

I dont like hangovers!!! I must have had a dodgy bottle, cant explain feeling rough otherwise!:whistling:

It definitely wasnt the other 14 bottles of sugar and caffeine loaded Blue WKD's! I do love my manly drinks!

Heavy physical labour or an intense session with the weights is the most effective way, I've found to shift a hangover

Tues, Thurs and Sundays are weights days for me. I guess i will just have to suffer today!

Never been to the Philippines so will not have a clue. But when your stuck in traffic with bad roads. The chance of being robbed at gun point. Heat and not really knowing an ETA to get home kinda makes traffic here seem a pleasure. You got radio, dab. Facebook or 4g to watch shows. Etc call people for a chat to while away time and so on. Plus it moves gradually.

It gets me in to trouble quite often though working in a primary school! I was straight out of high school to 12 years in an all male environment factory, it tends to do that to you, gutter humour!

I've been seriously thinking about that for a while tbh!  Not a motorhome due to cost but more a camper van with a loo...

Lack of toilets was one reason I had to move out last year.  We had just 1 between 4 people...all of which with 'digestive' problems time I left lol!!  Seems daft we've spent thousands of years evolving and quite a few of us still can't control our own bowels...

I don't have DAB lol.  And don't like listening to the radio in stationary traffic in case it drains the battery and I end up not being able to start the car.  I don't have any data on my phone so I'd have to be stuck in a wifi hotspot to watch anything lol, but then I'd worry about the phone battery dying as well.

It doesn't always move gradually, worse one I got stuck in was 2 hours of stationary traffic due to a car on fire.  I know some people get stuck for even longer though.

Did you have gas masks hanging outside the bathroom? That must have been horrendous.:yucky:

Lol, the window was permanently open!

I think Tom needs a Top gear esque toilet built into his car, such as in the boot lid with a bucket underneath. It's pretty certain the people behind him wouldn't be thinking about the traffic.

I'd be terrified on a bike lol, at least you've got some protection with a big tin box and stability with 4 wheels. Even that wouldn't work 100% either though, when they close both lanes you still can't go anywhere even on a bike.

I didn't realise there were that many cars in Nigeria lol!  I saw something the other day that said the UKs roads are the most congested in the world...I'm sure that's not true though, places like India and Japan look far more congested on TV!  Part of the problem with the UK system is the time it takes to clear accidents and open at least one lane to keep traffic moving.  It's inconvenient for me but I always think about how much money is being lost by businesses with trucks and commercial vans etc all stuck stationary.  The Germans seem to have better systems in place for those situations.

I don't take anything...I do keep a box of them in the car (along with water, loo roll, antibac wipes, spare underwear etc) but I just can't risk the side effects.  By the time it gets bad enough to consider risking the side effects it's too late anyway.  I know I'm my own worst enemy lol.

I really think that's your problem Tom.  I understand why you don't want to take medication, but surely it is at least worth trying?  If it makes things worse then stop, but it might make your life better.

It is a different health problem, but I used to suffer from daily migraines which affected my whole life (especially driving), but since being prescribed a medication for it I haven't had a severe migraine in months.  Another medication gave me terrible side-effects (felt like I was having a stroke!), so I stopped that and haven't had a problem since.

But, it is your life!

Thatd be a bit too public lol!  And kind of awkward on a hatchback haha!

Would be better to fit a toilet where the rear seats are...I don't take passengers anyway and have privacy glass...plus that's where I hang the air freshener!

Joking aside for a minute, you could be right.  And as you can probably guess this is what doctors and relatives say as well.

But I just couldn't cope with certain side effects, I literally live in permanent fear of getting 'ill' and wouldn't cope with anything worse than the sh*ts.

If it was a case of it being unpleasant but able to cope with it I probably would try these things but it isn't.

Joking aside though Tom I do feel for you as my Dad has IBS too and it causes him trouble, a lot of the time he's at home he stays upstairs, the council won't fit a downstairs toilet either, they haven't gave us a reason but I assume it'll cost too much for them.

I use to have this during exams when I get nervous and well it does not end well

Yeah, it's surprisingly common tbh, just not often talked about for obvious reasons lol.  Some people are better at dealing with it than others though, even without pills or anything.  One of my mates has it but did a round the world tour and still travels all over the place now.

Indeed it would.  You wouldn't expect a private landlord to pay for a downstairs toilet to be fitted to their property, so I think it is unfair to expect that of the council (as much as I do hate them...).

Having experienced IBS myself though, I fully empathise with what he is going through.

Now to get back to the thread title. I do t like threads turning into $hit. lol far too much toilet talk.

I don't like the prospect of changing the 405's glow plugs tomorrow...  Besides the fact it will mean standing outside in minus temperatures, I lack mechanical skill and even an oil change can be tricky for me, so this should be interesting!!

That said, I do have a tendancy to surprise myself and after all - how hard can it be?

The longer the handle is on your wrench; the easier it should be,

I know with spark plugs some mechanics put a smear of engine oil on the threads prior to installing as it prevents them becoming stuck on removal, maybe the same with glow plugs, makes sence in my opinion

My wife doesn't get along with either of my sister's, reading your post has made me quite thankful 😁
