A Weird Knock

So my commute from work often has a short 1 mile drive along a private business road, its littered with speed bumps which aren't too bad. However one of them is literally a sharp, foot long and about 6" high lump that spreads the full width of the road.

I always take this unbelievably slow (<5mph) as i can often hear my mudflaps getting quite badly caught and i'm worried on the drop my wheel arches might catch it. Anyway to my point my car has developed a knock on the drivers side around the rear wheel (same location as the exhaust). It is ussually only a slight knock but is getting progressively worse when i go over any speed bumps at various speeds, over any pothole/rough roads and sometimes if i go round a corner now too.

Anyone else had this sort of problem with their MK7 & MK7.5 fiesta? i don't believe i have ever hit a speed bump hard but i'm worried it may be the frequency that could be making it worse and the fact i go over 6 a day to and from work, 5 days a week.

The noise is usually in the form of a clunk or knock from the said area but having had a look under the car there is no obvious damage and having given the exhaust a wiggle it didnt make any obvious noises unless i wasnt trying hard enough.

Maybe rear spring or something in the boot ie spare tyre? What does it sound rubbery or matilic?

Sorry for the delayed response, doubt its the spare wheel but worth a check. I will let you know if tightening the holding bolt for the spare will help.

its not rubbery, i guess more on the metallic side but its a thud/thump that occurs when i go over uneven road, round a corner especially turning right and sometime over a speed bump is the only. I have had a search under the car and was totally baffled as it looked fine.

Haha thanks it isn't particularly loud so my music can drown it out sometimes but i think its pretty audible from outside the car so doesnt give the best impressions.

Really annoying that ive only had the car for 10/11 months but since its soon due its service i will be taking it in early and getting this investigated further. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

You sure it's from the rear?

Engine mounts / drop links are worth checking

Good question i guess. When driving with windows up it sounds like its the rear or at least behind me. not 100% sure where the noise is coming from when i have the window down. I've not had a look under the front/mid sections of the car so worth a look. will report back if i find anything.
