iantt
2 bolts and the connector from the info I have, one bolt to the right as you look at it, and other at rear , both bolts vertical indirection. Torx t30 is bolt head
alexp999
This is for the MK2 with the same engine. Might give you an idea of where it is: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/42915-guide-fitting-egr-blanking-plate-16tdci-engine/

alexp999
Its nothing like the mk2 Same engine, so I assumed it would be the same...? Clearly not, lol.
iantt
Nope, its called progress . Lol but to be fair ive not seen any mk3 with egr issues. ........ so far. Ha ha
Matthew Woodward
No, i saw that Mk2 post and it didn't help me. Mines down on power so i wanted to give it a clean
MONDEO TXS 2.2
A dirty EGRV should not affect power output significantly as it's closed when power is demanded, as it is at idle. Maybe a good idea to run some diesel Forte, or BG244 or Archoil through the system over several tankfuls of decent diesel such as Shell V power or similar
Matthew Woodward
What about a Terraclean? Anyone tried it?
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Terraclean can help & it's widely acclaimed. What sort of journeys does your car do mileage wise ?
iantt
No, i saw that Mk2 post and it didn't help me. Mines down on power so i wanted to give it a clean Is engine light on, or can you get a code reader to see if theres any dtc's I would leave well alone unless theres a definate fault with egr. Matthew Woodward
No lights on no. Mainly do short wish journeys, maybe 20miles. Not many long runs. Might look into terra clean then
alexp999
I'm thinking DPF with that mileage. Has the fan been running a lot, burbley exhaust note? Diesels don't like lots of short journeys with no long runs to clear them out.
iantt
When was fuel filter last changed?
Matthew Woodward
Not sure on fuel filter change , bought it from main dealer so assumed they did it for my collection. DPF already? only down 33k, !Removed! DPF!

alexp999
Not that it has necessarily failed, only that it might be partially blocked. It might just need a long run and Italian tune up.
Matthew Woodward
Without sounding silly, whats an italian tuneup?

MONDEO TXS 2.2
+ 1 on the above 3 comments A thrashing is what every diesel craves :) - several high engine revolution journeys for at least 30 minutes every week Change the fuel filter a.s.a.p. too
Matthew Woodward
Ok guys Ill change the fuel filter, get some Forte in it and give it a damn good thrashing. Is fuel filter easy diy change?
iantt
Yep, diy job, but you will need to prime the filter with fuel preferably with a primer pump, tools required are 8mm socket, and torx 15 screwdriver or bit.
shaunytee
Am I right thinking this egr valve is mounted sideways?
