Just got a Titanium, want to get other alloys

Just bought a 2014 Titanium, dark metallic blue, with rear camera and satnav. about 30,000 on clock.

It's a really nice car.

Compared to my 2007 Fiesta Zetec, it's quicker acceleration wise, faster topspeed-wise, quieter(ish), more comfortable, more economical, more nimble, looks better, auto climate control.

And five gears is easily enough - on the motorway, 4th was perfectly fine at 70  (2500 - 3000rpm) - 5th is a bonus.

Disadvantages - the odd tiny rattle, resonance, vibration from various points in the cabin (hard to locate).  ( The old Zetec was a little tank, absolutely solid, not a pipsqueak or rattle anywhere heard inside cabin).  And also, road noise - does depend on the road surface type ( seems to be two types of surface on motorway).

Overall, really pleased with the buy, so very happy.

I would like to change the wheels. It has the titanium standard alloys , 15 spoke. I don't really like them. I was thinking of ...

8 spoke fiesta/Ka, ie ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FIESTA-KA-16-4-STUD-ALLOY-WHEEL-WITH-195-45-16-TYRE-5-5mm-TREAD/172608624207

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/172600939415?clk_rvr_id=1196437305875&vectorid=229508&lgeo=1&item=172600939415&rmvSB=true

and finally

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/252836935672?clk_rvr_id=1196358495507&vectorid=229508&lgeo=1&item=252836935672&rmvSB=true

Being dark blue car, probably go for silver or grey.

I prefer the first one, the fiesta/ka. Is there anything I need to consider in terms of tyre size, wheel size  etc ,,, is it exact size as my standard titanium 15 spokes?

Cheers

Hi, get the titanium 16s . Which look & suit better. Its a titanium so should look like a titanium not lower spec model.

Don't even think of buying cheap sets! No doubt they'll be dodgy with kerbing & flat spots.

Find a decent set and don't be caught out with damaged alloys.

Personally I wouldn't want any of them styles! The first link are the type I had, reckon they was made out of monkey metal!

Price refllects on condition . I didnt see the condition But then again i wouldnt buy without viewing personally.& I think they are not too bad for price. I bought facelift st225 alloys for £280 in mint with very good tyres. Its hard finding mint wheels with good tyres & cheap.always the option to refurb.

I got these Zetec S alloys for £250 including the tyres two years ago, wheels was like brand new and the Continental tyres show'd no wear, off ebay but had to travel 100 miles to pick them up, luck of the draw I suppose but bargins can still be found.

Conti's now gone though and cheap tyres now fitted

Ok thanks, Im aware that ford alloys have a bad reputation, and that many people have complained to Ford over buckled alloys - I would still be interested in the first link, but I'm happy to buy brand new (if they still make them), or if not ford, then a third party outfit like ozwheels etc

I got through two Titanium alloy wheels within six months when we first got the car, ford wouldn't entertain any such change under warranty.

You can still buy the older style wheels brand new but are pricey.

Thanks - funnily enough, that link you sent had the one I like, the 7 spoke one, ie ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-Ford-Fiesta-MK7-2008-Onwards-Alloy-Wheel-6-5-x-16-Inch-7-Spoke-/121493242205?hash=item1c498fc15d:g:Gg0AAMXQVERS-KsZ

160 quid each-  you are right, not cheap ... but I think they look so much nicer than the 15 spoker.

I'd get the Team Dynamic ones if you want aftermarket, or the 17 inch zetec s or ST alloys if not.

The titanium ones are far nicer than any you posted, it would certainty be considered a downgrade. This means you would lose money buying new wheels and lower the value of the car in the process

I'd keep the old ones of course! Which Team Dynamics are you talking about?

I got the ten-spoke ones on mine. It's a Titanium with the City Pack at no extra cost.
I think they are the same as used on the Focus and I love them.

I've got a set of brand new ST alloys for sale, let me know if you're interested.

I replaced them with Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2.

Found these 7 spoke wheels, after market, part number 1515147 ...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-New-Ford-Fiesta-2008-16-Alloy-Wheel-7-Spoke-6-5Jx16-1515147/222441890901?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40656%26meid%3Dc5a94fbb7fab426481e819a0f2a0343c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121493242205

I think they are originally for Fiesta 2008. Apparently, according to the model checker, they do not fit my 2014 fiesta titanium. However I can't see why.

Does anyone know why these 2008 fiesta alloys would not fit my 2014?

Thanks

Is that going by the eBay vehicle search option 'Find parts for your car' Helpful sometimes but sometimes not! Don't see why these wouldn't fit on your car.

Those are still such a downgrade imo. The ones on the left in the brochure above look nice though, but still couldn't justify the cost instead of the titanium ones

Thanks, I thought so.

I was thinking that perhaps Fiesta 2014 is heavier, or has more vibrations or something, compared to 2008

Haha! You're not alone! You're in good company. Maybe I'm just a weirdo or something, but of all the Fiesta alloys out there, my eyes are drawn to the ones on the right.

Anyway, thanks.

Thanks - I think 7.5 facelift with 1.0 ecoboost came around 2012 or so. You'd hope the wheels above would be suitable. Was rthinking maybe extra weight, or more vibrations from 1.0 engine and turbo.

1.0T is lighter than the 1.6NA or diesel. Shouldn't be any vibrations that affect the wheels. All Ford alloys are quite heavy compared to aftermarket wheels, so you're buying, relatively, nil performance increase for significantly more money.
