Don’t know the answer. Can you tell us age and mileage and if recall done or showing as needed on etis?  I’d be interested to know if this is happening to cars which were not identified as needing recall as I have a 2015 1.5tdci fiesta

Hi my car is a 2015 ( 65 ) plate and the mileage is 93,000 , I’ve looked on other sites snd it looks like I still had atleast 50,000 miles to go , as far as I can find out there’s no recall on Etis and as I bought the car second hand I’ve had to inform Ford of the change of owner ( thought Ford dealer did that )

Can you please start a new thread. This is completely irrelevant and can be answered in a new thread. Thank you.

Mine also recalled. I'll let you guys know what's involved when I speak to my Ford dealer in about 20 minutes. Edit: It's a 4 hour job to complete. Hello little fiesta for a day or two.

  • Oddly, it's not the possibility of a dead engine in bits where it has exploded that'd worry me the most... It's the fact that I'd have to rely on Ford's customer disservice! That's enough to make me s

Hi All.

I have a 2016 1.5 diesel.

Does anyone know if the cam pullet was recalled for them?

The current one exploded the other day.

I don’t know. I have nov 2015 (first registered) fiesta 1.5 , same engine. Mine didn’t get a recall.  I was aware of this thread on this forum and it did worry me somewhat when first posted. I do not know how it was determined which ones to recall. Is it worth inspecting the pulley, has anyone seen one that showed early signs of failing before it actually broke eg. Cracks? I know it’s too late for colin

When you say 2016 , you mean build date in 2016 or first registered 2016?

Last vehicle builds were 30/4/2015 . After that pulleys should have theoretically better pulleys.

Got a report this morning that the engine is fine, no damage at all. the timing kit and pulley are all that needs replacing.

So not as bad at I thought, but Ford are saying the car is only covered for 5 years with this fault and we are slightly over that.

ignore that, built in 2015

It is worth contacting Ford Motor Company by phone on 020 3564 4444 or email our Customer Relationship Centre at [email protected].

They will possibly make a contribution towards the work needed.

So has your car got the recall?

No, No recall.

I contacted Ford and they are "looking into it"

It sounds incredible that there was no other damage. I thought the pistons must have hit the valves. When it broke were you actually driving along  in gear or did it fail when trying to start the engine

My fiesta 1.5tdci on Ford etis says build date 05 nov 2015 , first registered 18 nov 2015.  That sounds like very close together dates. So is the build date the date it left the factory? As opposed to date assembled? Or do they all leave on the date completed?  But when was the engine built?  Could that have been knocking about the factories for a while before put in a car? And could have a dodgy cam sprocket? I don’t know if they actually changed the sprocket design or there was a dodgy batch made with metal that did not meet the spec, too hard and brittle?  I would feel happier if I knew what was wrong with the sprockets and what the remedy was or how they knew which ones to recall

We had the insurance company and an independent assessor look at the car in a ford garage. (I'm in Ireland),

The wife rolled the car into another at the start of the year. the insurance sent out an assessor to look at the damage, which was minimal. She mentioned that there was a slight knocking noise, Assessor said it was OK and he would look at it once its up on a ramp.

4 days later after coming off a motorway and stopped at lights, the car stopped and when she tried to start it, it just juddered.

This week, ford stripped the engine, checked the shaft, cylinders and compression and all were fine. They are of the opinion that a new timing belt kit and sprocket will do it.

The also said they only have one other instance of this happening to this model and the same repair fixed it.
