What wax / sealants do you guys use? Was looking at chemical guys and their black wax designed for black paint however it is expensive.聽

Recently bought bilt hamber auto wheels. It does the job but I think with these iron fallouts removers you need to clean the wheels first. Gave the car a good clean聽

+1 for basically all the Bilt Hamber products mentioned here. They seem to be very highly recommended, plus they're based in Essex, so I'm happy to be supporting British business.聽I got myself started with their Award Winner's Kit:

https://www.bilthamber.com/double-speed-wax-award-winners-kit

That covers your alloy-safe wheel cleaner (plus hogs hair brush), Ph-neutral shampoo, contaminant-removing clay bar, and tub of low-effort finishing wax. I pair that with two of their woolen mitts, plus a couple of Kent microfibre drying towels.

I also use Meg's Ultimate Quik Detailer for lubing the clay bar (when I use it) and any top-up spot cleans (bird *****, insects etc), and I have some Meg's All-Purpose Cleaner for doing minor dirty jobs like the door shuts and rear bumper sill聽(as for some reason Ford聽designed them to let all the dirty water just pool there!).

I have a bottle聽of Meg's Quik Interior spray too, but haven't used it yet, as Pledge Fluffy Duster Heads seem to be doing the trick at the moment, whilst the car is new. I also have some Meg's聽Endurance High Gloss Tyre Gel for tyres and the black plastics, but to tell you the truth, I have't felt compelled to use them yet. :-)

Have you heard of slim's detailing? They're a company which sell cleaning products and I think for good prices. I've also seen youtubers have some of slim's own branded products. Slim's detailing is just 2 miles away from me so I just travel there and save a fiver on delivery.聽

When I got the auto wheels from there I also got bilt hamber auto clay soft and britemax blackmax. The bilt hamber hamber stuff I have is: auto foam, auto wash, auto wheels, auto clay. You can't complain about their prices. With their clay bar you get a good amount for the money. 200g for 拢10. Meguiars charge 拢7 for 50g of clay. The auto wash shampoo I use 10ml in a wash, 5ml firstly and the remaining 5ml as a top up. Will last a long time.聽

Yesterday I had a go on machine polishing the roof of this VW eos. Want to practice using a machine polisher and get confidence before I do it on my own car. Decontaminated it and clay bar'd it before using the machine. Today was just cleaning the pads (which I should have done after using them)聽

Used menzerna medium cut polish and britemax blackmax聽DSC_0364.thumb.JPG.95ef3c344478ef22158cdead5c42735c.JPG

It looked clean and the surface felt a lot more smootherDSC_0362.thumb.JPG.0402c9b75dd564ae9bbfb4ab0467382c.JPG

However using a torch it doesn't seem it corrected much or hardly any of the paint. The car hasn't come out the garage yet so can't tell if there's buffing trails as you'd only see that in direct sunlight. I believe I should have used a compound as this may have removed the scratches.聽DSC_0363.thumb.JPG.ba58de5bb46886ed41cb2091fa77034e.JPG

Good news

Went to slims detailing and asked about a good compound I could use. Was recommended Koch chemie and the guy showed pictures of results of it on a car he used it onDSC_0365.thumb.JPG.841528a247031d9a7e20077cecfd57ce.JPG

Things I usedDSC_0366.thumb.JPG.3ecad02c7b2027afd206e49c9667c479.JPG

So used the compound along with a heavy cutting pad, polished it using menzerna and finished it with britemax.聽

How is it best to apply snow foam. I have a Bosch pressure聽 washer聽

I'd say get a snow foam lance with the correct adapter to go in your Bosch hose. I've heard the lances made in Italy are the best ones. I normally snow foam first, not put any water on the car until after I snow foam. Some people say you shouldn't pressure wash the foam off as the dirt on the foam could push against the paint scratching it. If your really cautious you can rinse it off with the hose pressure.聽

I use bilt hamber auto foam and you can get it for around 拢16 for 5 litres which is a bargain聽

Practiced using the touch up paint. This kit came when I bought the car and it says expires June 14 (which questions me to if paint expires) so want to see if its okay. Used a tooth pick and applied it on some paper. Tomorrow will check it and apply the clearcoat.聽

Used to use nothing but Autoglm/Meguiars products until i tried Auto Finesse,http://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/car-cleaning-kits/auto-finesse-original-car-care-kit

got this kit from Halfords<Polish is easy to remove not chalky compared to others and the wax is also superb to use.

just need some more funds to buy more from the range.

You should ask your neighbour if you and them could practise using the DA polisher splitting the bottom between each other. Good thing with a DA is its difficult to burn into the paint however the only thing I'll worry about is how much clearcoat is left on the car. You never know if the previous owners had machine polished it before.聽

Been very busy these 3 days in the man cave and finally finished. Had machine polished, sealed and waxed the car. First day cleaned the car and decontaminated it using bilt hamber auto wheels as that is a fallout remover.聽_20180610_204050.thumb.JPG.a847ab85599cf12367c457375a9da7a6.JPG

Bought insta finish trim magic. A trim dressing which says can lasts years.聽DSC_0476.thumb.JPG.9469bc5ba458b5c810ee14ed05575147.JPG

Was the hardest / annoying thing to use. There was a inner cap which I think allows the product to drip out rather than pour out. Sadly this came off and was difficult to put it back in so just would quickly tip it on the applicator pad. Because of this I'd accidentally waste a little and some moments it would pour on the floor. Accidentally knocked it off the table and about a fifth of the product came out.聽

Before and after. The right handle had a little of the product but you can still see how faded it was compared to the other handle when I properly applied it.聽DSC_0480.thumb.JPG.a73164191903e1565cbbfca40b9f70c5.JPGDSC_0479.thumb.JPG.297fffc63b4bcd16acaf40474ea24cd7.JPG
