How many miles (or km) have you done with your 1.0 Ecoboosts?

17,000 miles on a 2016 Ecoboost Fiesta 125bhp titanium

The wife has a 2014 1.0 Ecoboost (100bhp) bought with 12,000 miles now on 40,000 and no problems apart from new front discs and pads.

  • My 1.0 125bhp (year 2014) Fiesta is still problem free so far 🙂 Just some regular maintenance and parts change done to it. Now driven 102 000 miles (165 000 km) and the car is almost 8 years old. I wi

About 22k miles in my 2014 Ecoboost. It is mainly used for short commutes 25 miles per day and more recently longer continental trips (as I live in the EU). The latter are typically through France, Germany and Switzerland for 500-1500km trips.

So far only some issues:

- in the early days the 3rd gear was a bit lumpy to get into, this now seems to have passed

- high pitched whine during the first year or so, this also now seems to have gone

- currently squeaky and rattling plastics around the dashboard

In general very reliable even on longer trips. In reality the fuel economy sucks in the city but on longer trips it is pretty good averaging 50mpg +/- with aircon on. Still way below the promise though.

2017 st line 1.0 140 had first service Saturday, 4007 miles on the clock.

There's 30,000 on mine now, of which I've done 10,000.   Two problems.   Stop start had to be sorted out and the front anti-roll bar bushes had to be replaced a year ago.   They now want replacing again.

Interested in this Bob. Any reason why having to replace bushes again? Are there a lot of potholes where you live or you driving over fields 😂 seems excessive for a low milage car

They weren't actually replaced Dave.   The guy who carried out the service suggested greasing them with silicone grease and I agreed.   It seems to have worked to a certain extent but they were squeaking again in the cold wet weather a few weeks ago but, now it's turned warmer, they're fine.

As said i have done just over 4k in mine and when the weather is cold, not particularly wet, there is a definite squeaking noise when i go over speed bumps etc. When it is warm the squeaking there.

I am guessing it is just the rubber compound they have used that tightens or hardens when cold. Certainly don't think they have failed or need replacing, grease is probably the best idea to make the rubber move more freely against the metal components when it is very cold.

I have also used a 2017 125 st line and that made exactly the same noise in cold weather.

The 2018 fiesta st line x does not make the squeaking noise.

The dealership also muted that it may be the oil in the shocks making the noise, especially when it is cold.

Just one of the things that has to be put up with. Rarely hear it anyway with the volume of the music i have on. 👍

The 2018 is still new.   Give it a couple of years.

I certainly don't believe it's the shocks as, when I first had the anti-roll bar bushes changed it cured the noise straight away.

I don't believe it is the shocks either.

Yes the 2018 is new and so is my 2017 st line, having done only 4k miles, the same squeaking noise occurs and it is still relatively new, so I doubt any bushes or etc etc are worn. It is purely the component rubber that hardens.

Okay, time for an update. Currently at 59 000 km (36 660 miles). So far the car has been working flawlessly. Fiesta mk7.5 2014 Ecoboost 125bhp.

2013 Titanium X 125bhp now done 49K and had one pair of front tyres, discs & pads, one rear shock, never let me down and NO road tax so far.

My 2013 125 Titanium has 38k on it. It has been quite good. 4 new tyres and front pads/discs. Turbo pipes had early signs of corrosion so cleaned up and painted.

Wife's 2015 125 Titanium has 22k on it. 2 new tyres... that's all.

23,000 clicked over on my way back from ford fair only had the car 2 years brought 2nd hand

13000 miles 2.75 years drivers seat reapaulstered due to a couple of holes and new rad cap (old one welded itself in place) both covered under warranty and a new battery.

That's already above average life expectancy for a 1.0EB.

I would assume it's had a cambelt and clutch by now, if not a full new engine?

Very probably on to it's third engine by now 🤣

If that is 153K miles on an original Ecoboost 1.0 it has a good chance to be in the Guinness book of world records.

Looking at mot history milage is quite consistent.  Between 25-37k miles per year. 1 previous owner with full service history.  I only do about 3k per year and all pottering no long distances at all.

That will suit the Ecoboom 1.0 engine just perfectly. Expect total catastrophic failure before the end of the first year.

I wouldn't buy it even if the previous owner was a little old lady called Queen Elizabeth 🤣

You need to know if there's a cambelt change in that history, or if the engine's been replaced.  If not, the cambelt is well overdue now and currently costs over £1000 to have changed.

If it has had a new cambelt, that 'resets' the mileage a bit, but a new engine even better.  If it's the original engine with no cambelt or clutch change then I wouldn't take it no matter how cheap.

I am on just over 71,000 only had a few issues over the 7 years which were cooling fan stopped working a few years back which I put down to all the London driving I do.The other issue was the reverse switch stopped working although that was in a 6 speed box as I converted mine a while back.

Overall its been a good car just haad the wheels re furbished and the tyre sensors re newed so I intend to hand onto it for a while longer.

Just shy of 20k miles on my 2020 active.

only had 2 issues, both addressed in warranty

1. Failed O2 sensor at 10k miles, replaced.

2. Left rear shock failed, replaced.

On my latest car, bought after the last one was stolen, I've done just  over 12,000 miles in two years.   It was a Motability car before I bought it and was owned by an old lady who lives not far from me.   She did 4,500 in the three years she had it.   I've had absolutely no problems so far. (Said he touching wood.)

Incidentally, I also have a 2021 BMW.   The build quality of the BMW is far in advance of the Fiesta but I leave it to my wife as I much prefer to drive the Fiesta.

47000 miles done, 15000,by me, 2014 titanium 125, only new tyres and battery, original brakes etc, no problems to report only squeak from rear

over speed  bumps in winter not too irritating! also touching wood cos MOT in October hopefully will be fine,!

2012 titanium (bought new) - 32800 miles.  Waiting impatiently for my new ST-Line,  Hope it arrives before December as I believe the cambelt needs replaced at 10 years.  No serious issues but yearly service has always thrown up something or other

I have to say that sometimes, your constant and inevitable 'ecoboom' posts get a bit tiresome. We get it- you don't like them. There are tens of thousands of these engines on the road and if they were as bad as you make out, the whole world would have heard about it by now.
