  1. It takes longer than a minute to press all the damn "OK" buttons of off the dashboard and the infotainment screen 😂

  2. They’ve not done that because it’s a smart motorway, they’ve done that because they’re ***** stupid, you can see the hard shoulder and even with a blowout the car would be able to get there.

  3. Try re-calibrating the clutches. Ideally do this procedure whilst the vehicle is at operating temperature If you have forscan then simply go into maintenance and "re-set transmission adaptive learning characteristics" If you don't have forscan: Disconnect the battery whilst ignition is on (Positive terminal) but engine NOT running Leave for 10 mins and press brake pedal a few times whilst disconnected. Re-connect battery Turn ignition on but do not start engine. Turn off ALL acessories (A/C, Radio, Display Screen, lights.) Ensure doors closed. Leave vehicle in Park and start engine - do not touch throttle Leave on idle for about 5 mins (or until engine reaches running temperature) After engine has been idling at operating temperature for one minute: Turn on A/C and leave to idle a further one minute Now you can turn on all other accessories If you reset using Forscan, start from here Engage the foot brake and release the handbrake. Keeping your foot on the brake at ALL times: Engage D and hold for 5 seconds Engage R and hold for 5 seconds (DO NOT ENGAGE NEUTRAL IN BETWEEN) Repeat this 5 times Engage neutral and hold for 5 seconds Engage D again and repeat the above steps again. You should find the clunks when engaging D&R get better after each sequence. Now take the vehicle out and make sure you can go on a trip where you can get up to 50 MPH/80 KMH and stop safely Drive the vehicle in D in normal mode under light throttle (so that the gearbox changes up at around 2,500-3,000 RPM) and drive up to 50MPH/80 KMH and bring the vehicle to a complete halt. Repeat this step again. Now drive the vehicle under heavy load (about three quarter throttle, but NOT full throttle) up to the same speed as before. And repeat, once. From stop - Now engage either "L" if you don't have paddle shifters If you do have paddles, press "M" , activate "SPORT" mode and engage 1st gear (So that it'll hold first gear, not change up) Accelerate up to 25 MPH/40??KMH very gently, on light throttle. Now let off the throttle and let the gearbox slow the vehicle down (engine braking) to at least 5MPH - 8-10KMH (or idle coast) DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKE (unless you have to) and repeat. Drive as normal and see if that corrects it👍

  4. As a regular driver going about an ordinary commute I dislike smart motorways, but as a recovery operator I much prefer them as it's a lot safer when recovering a stranded vehicle, the lanes need monitoring more as when people break down it takes too long to get that particular lane closed, but I would rather recover a vehicle from lane 1 than the hard shoulder, nobody can drive in a straight line every now and then we all get a bit close to the lines in the road, I've lost count how many times I've been almost killed by someone drifting over into the hard shoulder, whereas with a lane closure it funnels the traffic slowing it down and speed limits being in place. I do think they need to be reworked and more thought needs to be put into them though. So I am neither for or against smart motorways.

  10. Now, you do know every time you open the door it pops up 3c? LOL You'll need to climb in there with it to accurately gauge, and even then, your body temp will screw it all up 🤣

  15. Hi All, MAP sensor arrived this afternoon, fitted it and cleared the codes. Viewed the same oscilloscope readings as above with a distinct difference now showing on the MAP kpa. Attached oscilloscope readings for comparison so anyone else having this issue can see what to expect. This issue is now fully resolved. Thanks all for your help Mike

  17. No Tom, haven't bought one yet, I'm a lazy so&so LOL Read some reviews of the cuprinol on the B&Q site, very mixed, some swear by it others just sear at it!. Hard to know what the truth is, as with all online reviews... Aahhh... Tommy Walsh, use to watch Ground Force years ago, mainly for Charlie Dimmock though, and it wasn't for her gardening skills LOL Oh, this is the one doing the TV advertised rounds at the moment...

  18. On the rare occasions when I find myself driving an automatic, if stopping for more than a few seconds, I would apply the "handbrake" lever or switch and slip it into Neutral, same as with a manual. I would only use P to lock the transmission when leaving it parked, same as leaving a manual in gear.

  19. I can see these things making a lot of financial sense to many people with the right driving mix, particularly business users who can take advantage of the tax breaks. I've certainly seen a fair number of BMW 330e's plugged in outside houses that previously had 320 or 330d's outside.

  20. I wouldn't recommend taking my foot off the brake whilst in D. Park brake or no park brake Put it in "P"

  21. In fairness, he didn't remember to refit the cap either... As there's a lock on the filler flap on the Mk6 Fiesta, you don't need one on the cap as well.

  22. I wouldn't take too much notice of that MPG figure. Will totally depend on your driving. If you do mostly town driving on electric then you'll get a decent MPG (equivalent). If you're mostly on the motorway using the petrol engine you'll be getting petrol engine MPG.

  23. Ok, the petrol models have a normal torque converter type trans called the 6F35 Mid Range from Ford USA The diesel have the Getrag Powershift wet clutch 6DCT450 (Used in many Volvo Models as MPS6) The Getrag has the following feature called Neutral control. This paragraph is straight from the factory info manual. This is a function that is activated when the driver stops and the vehicle is stationary, e.g., at a red light. The Trans Control Mmodule disengages the clutches, which means that the transmission's forward drive is reduced, as well as the engine load. The function reduces both fuel consumption and vibrations. When the driver releases the brake, the clutch torque increases on the clutch for which the gear is engaged, and drive increases. The following conditions must be met in order for the neutral function to activate: · gear lever in D or R. · throttle position 0% · brake pedal pressed down. · speed 0 km/h. So in the above conditions, even if you are in D, the trans is not under any load by trying to drive as it is in a Neutral mode - hence totally ok to sit with your foot on brake. If you want to do it the other way, I would just put the HB on then release when ready to move. Please note, it is MOST important on these transmissions to have transmission oil and filter change every 37,500 miles or 3 years whichever soonest

  24. yeh ive had a spring on the front crack too, thats why i changed them all and got the H & R 35mm drop. its probably the boot cache switch, the black bit you press you when you open it they seem to get water and stuff in them

  25. Yes it will fit in snugly, I've read no end of times where people have got a matching spare wheel only to see the problem, even I did it 🤭 Forget the whole idea of buying a new full sized wheel/tyre, the space saver will serve it's purpose if you do have a puncture, my brand new wheel/tyre is still in the shed! Wasted £200 😖

  26. Not really any quicker than kick-down, no. If you activate the paddles you still have to wait for the gearbox to respond, especially if you want to drop more than one gear

  28. thank you all for considering 🙂 it seems that opinions are somehow divided 😄 Here in Egypt idling the car is not prohibited by law, however leaving the car unattended while engine running is prohibited, besides that who would leave his car running and unattended unless he wants it to be stolen 😄 any way I was just asking about that 1 minute idle after a cold start is it necessary ? harmful ? or good practice ? based on your opinions I guess that its better to give it only 1 minute after a cold start , until RPM drops to 1000 , to allow oil to thoroughly circulate through the engine and the turbocharger, and to allow the engine to enter the closed loop, all it takes is 1 minute, not a big deal right ? and then start moving and drive gently until the optimum operating temperature is reached. any way I usually do this to fasten the seatbelt, clean the windscreen, and check that everything is OK. I guess I'll go on with this practice 🙂 really I wish to thank all of you for considering 🙂 its beautiful to have friends overseas to talk and share experience 🙂 thank you 🙂

  30. Pic here from another thread showing the 175/65 in situ which may help. It fits well below the level of the boot floor as you can see.
    1 point
  31. Well, a 175 is clearly larger than a 125, but that's the standard size of the Ford optional space saver, so it does fit. I have seen 125/80 etc on EBay but they're not the same as Ford supply as a factory option.

  32. Just a wee update folks, I have just returned from a weekend at the caravan & the car was returning 47.8 mpg, this was a mix of motorway, A & B road driving also a little around town stuff, it would appear that there was a fault between the seat & the steering wheel...😉 I had not reset the trip computer or the average mpg since I had a new oxygen sensor fitted & the dealer said that I would be getting a spurious reading because of this, he told me to reset & it seems to be fine now, if I can keep returning 47 on a run then I will be quite happy...😀 Thanks for all of your input troops.

  34. I was always under the illusion that making money was the difficult part in life; and when you have money anything else just falls in to place, How wrong can one be: I have similar issues with obtaining the correct size door for our kitchen, I ordered the correct size but they sent out one that is 4" wider, Some may say trim both sides; but it's a large glass centre with oak frame, the correct size door has a proportional frame to take a 2.5" latch and handles, so trimming the frame of a bigger than required sized door would see the handle protrude in to the shadow of the frosted glass; Would remind people of the shower scene in the movie "the crying game" where you would see the silhouette of the (knob) door handle 🤭 in the frosted glass door. Where there isn't supposed to be one. The crafty hoars have a website but you can't order through it; they need to be phoned to make a purchase; so I've no proof of order history to say that the wrong size was sent; my only proof is that the price which I paid by card was for the smaller size than the one received I'm now waiting for them to send out the correct size door and take the existing one back, Then I can get in touch with the carpenter and arrange fitting. Money solves nothing these days.

  35. I agree with this. I feel like Sharp is a bit outdated in terms of softwares in TV's. LG or Sony would be best based on my own experience. Been using an LG for my ps4 pro with an HDR and it looks perfect to me.

  37. I don't like that last Tuesday evening I was trying to sleep as I was working throughout that night; When my next door neighbor (semi-detached) begins to shout at a horse repeatedly on his television; The guy is a bar man and hasn't done anything in over a year, and is blowing tax payers money on horses. Is it cruel of me to put some horse racing from YouTube on my television and turn up the volume then create an imaginary horse called "Job Diversify" Then I will shout "Go on Job Diversify" "come on Job Diversify you Stupid Donkey" "Go on Job Diversify" I find myself becoming increasingly bitter as I get older 😂 were in the Republic of Ireland by the way; still under 5km restrictions with no real line on the horizon yet, I'm lucky to retain employment throughout never stopped as I'm part of manufacturing pharmaceutical's. There are other jobs out there for some people whom could Diversify such as my neighbor, I'm not being cruel in this situation.

  38. @BigLen if the Switch is less than a year old why not go back to the retailer and get it replaced? I wouldn't try and get it repaired when it's inside of warranty. Of course pending the retailer, you might have to push to get them to replace it (or repair it themselves) but I would try them if you haven't already.

  39. I bought our son a brand new Nintendo Switch around Christmas, I spent around €500 in the end by the time I had a screen protector, protective case, four games and a 256Gb memory card. All was great, until the beginning of February when I returned from work to see the dreaded blue screen, which seemingly is the sign of an internal issue where the processor has become separated from the mother board. 😮 It was a difficult time with lockdown restrictions here in Ireland too; my local computer repair place wasn't in operation so the poor chap was very disappointed and tried a number of times to get it working himself by pressing buttons as instructed on YouTube; he's only six years old. Today I took it to my local computer repair place; the two guys in there are really helpful and fitted screen protector's to a number of devices for me in the past without changing because I had bought the protector's on Amazon or at least not from them; but I required a professional to fit. Anyway; I went in to the shop this morning hopeful that this was the beginning of recovery however the future for the Nintendo switch seems set to continue to be a blue one. I said " hello, I have a Nintendo switch with the blue screen" He says "ah no, not the blue screen, that's the worst situation that you could experience, it's a ram issue and most likely can't be repaired in this country it's "swear worded" Initially I thought he was pulling my leg, but I soon felt the pitfalls of reality as he was handing it back to me 😧 I then asked again if they wouldn't mind could the atleast have a look as my son is only six and is missing it alot, so they agreed to open it for investigation but no promises of a resolution. Thought id share to let others know; Nintendo of today which are aimed towards the lowest generation of audience are not built like they used to be back in the years of the Gameboy and even the 3DS. The switch is a very delicate machine, I think he would be much better with an Xbox in the future,

  43. I don't like getting absolutely roasted on purchasing two hotwheels vehicles from Texas in the big US, these models cost around 25 euro over here i bought both of the above via eBay uk and provided my American AdressPal address for shipping from the seller in Texas. total purchase cost was 26.02euro almost 2 for 1 compared to purchasing locally, all seemed euphoric. until they arrived at address Pal in the big US There must be a minimum package price on American AddressPal deliveries as they were only weighing 150g and 200g but the fee from AddressPal at that stage was a staggering 15.99euro each. which i could only assume included a Customs import charge, and couldn't really do much about it as it had already been subtracted from my current account. it would later transpire that the 15.99euro each was only to cover shipping from AddressPal in America to my address in the Republic of Ireland. many days then passed, until last night when I received a further two emails from anPost on behalf of the Irish Revenue and Customs, ow yes! inhalation is immanent there's no escaping. here's the emails. a total of 18.74 euro was required to be paid to customs for the two Hotwheels vehicles, which the original purchase cost for both of them was 26.02 euro including shipping from the sellers to AdressPal in America. AdressPal had then charged a total of 31.98 euro (15.99 x 2) to ship them to Ireland, i inquired on how the customs charges were calculated; and discovered that the customs add the cost of shipping to the value of the item in order to evaluate the amount of tax due to be paid, so that means that I'm paying import tax because addressPal charged 31.98 euro shipping to get them to Ireland where the customs could then add that to the item value to enterprise on fees. overall cost from start to finish for these two cars was: initial purchase: 26.02 euro AddressPal fee's: 31.98 euro (15.99 x 2) Customs fee's: 18.74 euro Total: 76.74 euro for two vehicles that once had an RRP of: 15.00 euro each back in 2018.

  44. Going to be at least 50 at a house party and standing holding each other for photos, I've got an idea though; there's a power supply in the garden shed and I've got a tent, I'm thinking I can camp in the back garden for at least two weeks just got no fridge but I have a gas stove, Only risk then is the car she's using, I'll need to sanatize that as best possible, hopefully the snow doesn't return. If all is good then it will only be for two weeks.

  45. I don't that my wife is completely ignoring any advice from myself or our children to stay at home; And is proceeding to attend a sleepover in her sisters house with a number of other people; followed by collecting her mother from another house in our car tomorrow morning; To then travel to a hotel for her sisters wedding ceremony for which she is matron of honour; stand for photos obviously with no mask 🤯 followed by attending a house party before dropping her mother and whoever else home in our car then returning home to our house tomorrow night. What more can I do than try to emphasize the importance of staying at home without doing any of it, I can't afford to live somewhere else for at least two weeks because I'm 99% sure she's going to bring it home because some of these people in attendance are complete idiot's mostly born in the 90's and living for the moment no tomorrow. It's only a matter of time now, obviously I don't provide enough at home.

  47. I don't like trying to access my 72 year old mother's WiFi which I changed the password on; four years ago and she wrote down the password in her 2016 diary at the time; to keep it safe But that was 2016 and the new diary is 2021. 🤯 I don't like resetting the router to attempt return the password to its default which is printed on the rear of the WiFi router; Quincedeantly; when I rest the router, the entire network went down in the area causing the loss of her much loved Alexa network aswell as TV subscription and home phone. Which she assumed was entirely my fault for the 40 minutes it was down, poor woman calling Alexa like a lost child calls mammy in Tesco's 😥 And all that the Alexa devices could do at the time was show a red ring. Was quite emotional to watch 😅 All worked in the end though; she now has a Samsung TV which works with Alexa, it's her first smart TV last one died after 19 years of use, she now has Netflix and prime TV aswell as YouTube, She doesn't have a smart phone, so she's amazed with all this, ideal since she lives alone and cocooning as they say. 😅
