Hi,
I've just bought a nearly new 2012 SMax with the touchscreen sat nav system. I assumed, based on the Ford website, that the radio was DAB but it looks like FM/MW only. Can anyone confirm? Seems surprising for a new car with so many other fancy features!

Correct - you can either have DAB or NAV - not both.
Unless you fit an aftermarket radio, but then you lose compatibility with bluetooth, voice control, steering wheel control, convers+ dash integraiton etc.
In any case the DAB radio is the "Sony" branded unit - made by Visteon (not Sony) and doesn't sound very good. Better to have the tocuh-screen SatNav (made by Blaupunkt) which sounds 10x better.
